Date & Time 19 October 2018 10:00 AM

Below is a report I wrote while observing a classroom at Govt. Higher Secondary

School Khaliqabad, Mirpur Azad Kashmir.

Abstract

The following report will examine all the elements of classroom that I will
observe in Mr. Nasir Mehmood Tahir Class. I will discuss the classroom
environment, the school, the student’s participation, and the teacher’s overall
effectiveness. I will then talk about how much the experience had an impact on
my aspiration to teach.

Teacher Observation Report

Part I: Observation

It was very important to observe education system. For my teacher observation,

I chose to go and observe in classroom at Govt. High School Khaliqabad Mirpur
Azad Kashmir. The school as whole is rather large and has around 301 students
and over 25 teachers thus creating a stable student-to-teacher ratio.

20
All of my observations hours were spent observing Mr. Nasir Mehmood Tahir’s
classroom. After walking into the classroom, you immediately feel welcome.
The classroom was also divided into 3 rows of benches. There was also a chair
and a table for teacher. There was a water-cooler in classroom. There was a
dust-bin in classroom.

Mr. Nasir Mehmood Tahir walked over to his chair, sat down and called the
children over and told them to all sits as “Indian style”. After every child was
seated.

Mr. Nasir was punctual in class and school. Mr. Nasir was well dress. Mr. Nasir
was greeted before class start. He mentioned the objective of the lecture. He
used proper body language for lesson delivering. He used the AV aids like white
board, marker, book and mobile. He had knowledge in the subject area. He
delivered the lecture very excellently.

He was teach the mathematics in class 4th. Class 4th consisted of 28 students.
He controlled the class 4th. But it was difficult task to control the primary level
classes. He maintained the class also with eyes contact. He called them all the
students with their names. He had overall good qualities to maintain discipline
and control the class environment.

He started to check the notebooks before starting the lecture during the class.
He delivered the lecture very well. He had a clear voice at the end of the
classroom. He had clarity of presentation during the lecture. He maintained the
professionalism during the class session. He had good speed of teaching during
the lecture. Mr. Nasir used examples that were simple, clear, precise and
appropriate.

He met stated objective of lecture. He held the interest of students during the
class. He focused on the struggling learners. He did not make the groups during

21
class for activity. He used effective teaching methods e.g. activity based,
question answer method. He gave the question to solve the problem. When some
student did not complete the task then he helped the student to complete the
problem.

The overall students were very attractive during the class. But some students
were misbehave during class. He controlled those student very effectively. He
called those student on white board to solve the question and taught them all
students during class.

Part II: Reflection

In my professional opinion, Mr. Nasir Mehmood Tahir demonstrated to me that

he met all the standards for excellence in teaching, and met the goals.

He had the ability to use technology in teaching. The capacity to relate the
subject matter to other fields of knowledge. Seeking opportunities outside the
classroom to enhance student learning.

His excellent research oriented teaching and command on the subject proved to
be a great asset to the students as well as to the institute. He will prove himself
an experience, diligent teacher and colleague, wherever he is placed.
