Welcome to 8th grade and to a very important mathematics course! My name is Mr. Duvoisin (Mr. D), and I am
pleased to be your math teacher this year. I have over 20 years of experience in education as a classroom
teacher, principal, and curriculum specialist. I am a parent myself, having two grown sons and a middle school-
aged daughter. I look forward to working with Ms. Davis (ELA), Ms. Gaspard (Science), and Ms. Stevenson
(Social Studies) to prepare you for high school!
8th grade math serves as a foundation for math courses students will take in high school and in college. I am
looking forward to a fun, challenging, and exciting year together.
Goals: I have three main goals this year:
1) to broaden and strengthen students’ problem solving skills
2) to prepare students to EXCEL in their future math courses
3) to prepare students for any and all state and national tests
In 8th grade math, students will learn about the number system, expressions and equations, geometry,
statistics, and functions. I design my tests for students to apply the skills that I have taught in the classroom. I
challenge students to strive for EXCELLENCE and to display a COMMITMENT to success every day! Students
will be setting and monitoring academic goals for themselves this year, and they will share these goals with
their parents/guardians.
Finally, there will be a Parent Orientation for 8th Grade families on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, 7pm - 8pm.

Again, welcome to 8th grade and to my class! If students or parents need to contact me, you can reach me
through Class Dojo or my email (aduvoisin@loenola.us), both of which I check several times per day. I look
forward to meeting everyone soon! Let’s have a GREAT YEAR!
Sincerely,
Mr. D
