We welcome you to our 11th Season. Where has the time gone?
10 years have passed and we look forward to the next 10 (and a
lot more). Last season we got to celebrate this special milestone
with you and we are grateful you choose to share in our musical
journey.
We are delighted to announce that VentiCordi is preparing to
make its first recording. Many of the pieces we perform this
summer will be on that recording, including gems such as the
Trio of Hans Gál, ‘Pas de Trois’ by Ned Rorem and a work
especially written for us, ‘Three Duos for VentiCordi’ by Bill
Matthews.
This leads us right in to our first concert, appropriately titled, For
the Record. In addition to the Gál and Rorem, we are exploring
the music of contemporary composer Boris Blacher for the first
time, and a great chamber work of the early Romantic era by
Carl Maria von Weber.

& Cello Known for infusing his music with folk flavored melodies,
Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos created a tour de force with this Wednesday, July 24, 2019, 7:00

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Flute Quartet in D Major, K. 285
Mozart was about 20 years old when he visited Mannheim, Germany.
Organic and natural He struck up a friendship with a wealthy amateur flutist Ferdinand De
Jean, who was a surgeon with the Dutch East India Company. De
hand-loomed knitwear Jean commissioned several works by Mozart, and although Mozart
by Jen & Tanya was apparently not paid his full due, we may be thankful he wrote mu-
sic that flutists and audiences have enjoyed ever since. His writing,
particularly in the Adagio, is strikingly vocal in style.

Grażyna Bacewicz completed her Trio for oboe, violin and cello, begun
Artisan made in the USA during a stay in Paris, in November 1935 in Warsaw. The following
year the work received a second prize (the first was not awarded), pro-
vided by Polish Radio, at a composition competition organized by the
Open 7 Days A Week
Polish Music Publishing Society in Warsaw. The Trio was first per-
June - Sept formed by Seweryn Snieckowski (oboe), Lidia Kmitowa (violin) and R.

tion was accepted favourably both by the audience and reviewers. The
work consists of three movements: Molto allegro, preceded by an in-
troductory Adagio, Andante and Vivo. The Trio, stylistically uniform, is
an example of the composer's neoclassicism and constitutes an impor-
tant stage in the evolution and perfection of her compositional skills as
well as the formation of her individual style.
