I. TITLE OF ACTIVITY: BONOK BONOK MARADJAW KARADJAW FESTIVAL 2022

II. DATE: September 4- 10, 2022
III. RATIONALE:

For thirty eight (38) years now, the staging of the Bonok - Bonok Maradjaw
Karadjaw Festival has continuously given pride and honor to the City of Surigao.
The annual festival has become the image of our rich cultural heritage. It has
likewise provided entertainment to tourists and locals alike as they join the colorful
performances on the city streets during the annual street parade and bear witness
to the masterful staging of the dance drama during the dance showdown. It is
considered the most awaited event of the city during the celebration of its annual
fiesta.

Local choreographers, artists and talents also are given the opportunity to
showcase their artistic creations/expressions which are presented in various
choreography and dance productions.

The City Government in cooperation with various stakeholders and sponsors

organize the event to preserve the local culture and tradition of the Surigaonons.
The people have already adopted the Bonok - Bonok Maradjaw Karadjaw Festival
as a thanksgiving ritual for a bountiful harvest and good health. The dance ritual
practiced many years ago will still continue until the next generations to come.

As we envision to make the festival a spectacular event every year, we have invited
more participants to join. Participants to the Bonok - Bonok based category will be
coming from the Barangays/Schools within the city and contingents who will be
joining the Bonok - Bonok Festival of Festivals will be coming from different cities
and provinces outside of Surigao del Norte as well as other municipalities within the
province. To encourage their participation we will be providing the following:

 Bigger cash prizes plus trophies for all the winners. Non-winners will also
