6H English Unit 2 Oral Presentation

Present your research!

During our PBA, you’ve chosen a problem to tackle on behalf of humanity, researched the problem, researched potential
solutions and obstacles, written a formal research essay, and even created a beautiful infographic to efficiently educate the
public on the topic! Now, the only thing left to do is to present your research to the public!
You’ll need to upload your infographic to the Week 17 Linked Classroom tile by Monday, December 26 (Week 18)
so that your teacher can display the infographic on the board on presentation day. If you need technical help, you must ask
by Friday, December 23. Do not come to class with a USB drive on presentation day unless you have made a special
arrangement with your teacher in advance.
Your presentation will occur in-class on Tuesday, December 27 (Week 18). The presentation will be counted as 10% of
your final grade. We will have one day of class dedicated to structured practice time with guidance on Monday, December
19 (Week 17). Be sure to bring your infographic to class on both days!
Steps:
1. Week 17 Monday: Bring your infographic and a loose plan for how to organize your 2-3 minute presentation.
Don’t stress about preparing the perfect presentation before this day; we’ll be practicing in-class to help you
improve your presentation!
2. Week 17 Friday: If you need technical help using LC or otherwise, you must ask your teacher by Friday,
December 23, so that they have time to arrange a solution for you.
3. Before Week 18 Monday: Upload your infographic to the Week 17 LC tile so that your teacher can display it in-
class on presentation day.
4. Week 18 Tuesday: Presentations begin in-class! Students will present in a random order, so be ready! You could
be first!
Tips:

 You should face the audience while presenting, !even though your infographic is on the board behind you!
 Practice your presentation with a timer; it should be between 2-3 minutes!
 Whether or not you use notecards, your eyes should be looking at your audience while you present.
 Your presentation should not be a reading of your essay. You will need to adapt the content of your research and
essay to meet the needs of the oral presentation!
 Your presentation should address the problem and solution you’ve researched; you’re not just presenting the
infographic itself.
 Read the rubric!!!
