1.1.1.1 remove battery box cover between the chassis (Battery box) < 00:01
1.1.1.2 disconnect battery clamp, negative pole < 00:01
Explanation

Warning, battery clamp, negative pole

Eject the driver's card before disconnecting the battery clamp from the negative
pole.
To prevent damage to electronic components, never disconnect the battery
clamps when the engine is running.
Switch off the ignition before disconnecting the battery clamp from the negative
pole.

After switching off the ignition, wait at least 80 seconds before

disconnecting the battery clamp from the negative pole.
Non-observance of this waiting time results in clogging of the AdBlue
lines.
Always disconnect the battery clamp from the negative pole before working on the
vehicle.
Do not place any tools or other materials on top of or close to the batteries. This
can cause a short circuit and, in the worst case, a battery explosion.

Installing air pipes
1. Check the bore in the valve for dirt and clean
the bore as necessary.
2. Fit a new O-ring onto the quick-release coupling
and grease the O-ring with the specified
mounting product.

If the plug is not removed from the

socket, the quick-release coupling
(plug and socket) can be re-fitted as
an assembly. If the plug is removed
from the socket, the socket must be
replaced.

3. Tighten the quick-release coupling to the

1.2.8 check air leakage foot brake valve (Pedal box) 00:02
1.2.9 top up hydraulic fluid reservoir, clutch fluid 00:01
Explanation

Warning, hydraulic fluid

Hydraulic fluid is toxic and can therefore have a damaging effect on your health.
Avoid direct or indirect physical contact.
As hydraulic fluid is also corrosive it may damage the paintwork of the vehicle.
Avoid contact between hydraulic fluid and paintwork.
Always use specified new hydraulic fluid that has been kept in a sealed container.
Hydraulic fluid that has absorbed water (from the ambient air) has an adverse
effect on the operation of the clutch system.
Avoid contact with mineral oil. Mineral oils in the system damage the seals.

M016142 - 18/11/2009
Topping up clutch fluid

1. Fill the clutch reservoir so that the fluid level is

between the MIN and MAX marks.

Cabin must be in the driving position.

2. Hand-tighten the reservoir sealing cap.

There is an air bleed vent in the cap

that may be closed if the cap is
tightened with too great a force.
If the air bleed vent is closed off,
residual pressure will build up in the
system.

Bleeding the clutch system by using a pressure

brake bleeder.
1. Remove the reservoir sealing cap.
2. Connect the pressure brake bleeder to the
reservoir.
3. Fill the system via the pressure brake bleeder.

Filling too quickly causes foaming,

which makes bleeding impossible.

4. Position a transparent hose onto the bleed

nipple (1).
Insert the hose into a jar.
5. Open the bleed nipple (1) two full turns.
When no more air bubbles escape from the
transparent hose, the bleed nipple (1) can be
closed again.
6. Check the fluid level.

Bleeding the clutch system by using a vacuum

brake bleeder.
1. Remove the reservoir sealing cap.
2. Connect the vacuum brake bleeder with a
transparent hose onto the bleed nipple (1).
3. Open the bleed nipple (1) two full turns.

The fluid in the reservoir must be

topped up continually.

4. Operate the vacuum brake bleeder.

When no more air bubbles escape from the
transparent hose, the bleed nipple (1) can be
closed again.
5. Check the fluid level.

Bleeding the clutch system by operating the

clutch pedal.
1. Remove the reservoir sealing cap.
2. Position a transparent hose onto the bleed
nipple (1).
Insert the hose into a jar filled with the specified
fluid. Make sure that the end of the hose is
below the fluid level.
3. Open the bleed nipple (1) two full turns.
4. Gradually depress the clutch pedal and close
the bleed nipple (1). Gradually release the
clutch pedal.
Repeat this operation. The fluid in the reservoir
must be topped up continually.
5. Repeat step 2 and 3 until no more air bubbles
escape through the transparent hose.
6. Check the fluid level.

Sometimes it may be difficult to bleed

the clutch system. In such cases, the
clutch system can also be bled using
a hand priming pump onto the bleed
nipple (1).
Make sure that the hand priming pump is
thoroughly cleaned inside.
Connect a transparent hose to a priming pump
and fill the pump with the specified fluid.
2. Remove the reservoir sealing cap.
3. Pump until fluid without air bubbles flows from
the hose.
4. Connect the hose to the bleed nipple and open
the bleed nipple (1) two full turns.
5. Pump the fluid into the system with the priming
pump.

In doing so, observe the following:

do not depress the clutch pedal.
make sure that no air bubbles
are introduced into the system.
monitor the fluid level in the
priming pump.
monitor the fluid level in the
clutch reservoir.

6. Close the bleed nipple (1) and disconnect the

bleeding device.
7. Check the fluid level.
