Test Equipment Requirements

Multimeter - capable of resistance, continuity and Diode test (Rated to 1000V DC & 300mA)

Test Procedure
Before starting work the 'Responsible Electrical Person' and engineer MUST:-
Confirm all appropriate Work Permits are in place
Confirm the Drive is de-energised, isolated, earthed down and dead
Confirm Surface panel (ZSP) is powered down and isolated
Confirm the system is isolated and safe before any work commences
Disconnect Surface choke and ZSP during any Drive and/or cable megger testing

Physical Examination
Carry out physical examination and confirm system is appropriately wired
Confirm Choke fuses are each (independantly) wired to the 3 down hole cable terminals
Confirm Choke fuses are not linked and/or wired to a single phase or to transformer Y Point
Confirm all connections clean dry and secure - Confirm wiring continuity
Confirm high integrity earth path between Surface choke and well head (confirm continuity)
Ensure Screen is earthed at one end only (choke or ZSP)

Surface Choke Testing

Isolate Choke from signal and Down-hole cables before testing choke
1.Remove each fuses and test resistance
2.Test Resistance between each fuse clip (ZSP side) - A to B, B to C, C to A
3.Test Resistance from fuse clip (A, B and C) to Choke Body LINE connection
4 Test Resistance from fuse clip(A, B and C) to Choke Earth Stud connection - (Fluke COM to Gnd)
5 Test Diode from choke LINE terminal to Earth Stud - (Set Fluke to Diode test - +ve to Gnd)

1 - Fuse Resistance Test
30-35ohm (1/8A Fuse)
(Ohm)
~110 ohm (1/16A Fuse)
Some chokes may be fitted with 1/16A fuses to overcome issues with prolonged low frequency ramp up periods these fuses will test at ~110ohm
