LAWS EXERCISES
BOYLE – MARIOTTE´s LAW (constant temperature)
1) At a pressure of 17 atm, 34 L of a gas (at constant temperature) undergoes
a change occupying a volume of 15 L. What will be the pressure it exerts?
2) A quantity of gas occupies a volume of 80cm3 at a pressure of 0.98 atm.
What volume will it occupy at a pressure of 1.2 atm if the temperature
does not change?
3) We have 4.5 liters of a gas subjected to 4.8 atm, and suddenly the pressure
is reduced to 2.5 atm, what will be the volume that the gas occupies now?
GAY LUSSAC´s LAW (constant volume)
4) A gas that occupied a volume of 1.5 liters, is heated from 25°C to 55°C at
constant pressure. What is the new volume it will occupy?
5) A car tyre contains air at a pressure of 2.5 atm and the temperature is 20°C.
After a long journey, the air temperature rises to 50°C. What pressure will
the air in the wheel have?
6) A gas is at a pressure of 2 atm and at a temperature of 27°C. Up to what
temperature do we have to heat the gas so that the pressure doubles? The
volume of the gas does not change.
CHARLES´LAW (constant pressure)
7) A gas occupies 3.5 liters volume at a temperature of 60K. If the pressure
remains constant, at what temperature would the volume be 6 liters?
8) There are 6 liters of a gas at 24°C and constant pressure. How much does
its temperature decrease so that its volume is now 4 liters?
9) If the air volume in a room at 8°C is 900 liters. How much air will escape
from the room if it is heated to 30°C?
