“Complete” Software Installation (Procedure A)
This section describes how to install a new copy of “Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1” software in your PC.

“Upgrade” Software Installation (Procedure B)

This section describes how to upgrade a copy of the “Ellipse” or “Ellipse140” software already installed
on your PC.

Updates available:
- From Ellipse…...rel 1.0.3
to Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1

- From Ellipse140 rel 2.1.0
to Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1

“Service” Software Installation (Procedure C)

This section describes how to install the software needed to upgrade the firmware of the Ellipse
instrument.

Firmware Upgrade (Procedure D)

This section describes how to upgrade the firmware in the Ellipse instrument.

Note: The CD installation is distributed with the Ellipse instrument. If you do not have the installation
CD you can download the Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1 software directly from our ftp site:

1. Open “Internet” and type the following address: www.ams-analyzers.com

2. Click on “Technical area”

3. Type the “Nome utente” (= user name) and the Password

4. Click on the “Accedi” button

5. Open the “Instruments” folder

6. Open the “Ellipse” folder

7. Open the “Software140” folder

8. Click the right mouse button on “Ellipse140 rel. 2.1.1.exe” and then, click on “Copia
nella cartella” command

9. In the new window (“Sfoglia per cartelle”), check to see if in the “Cartella:” box there
appears “Desktop”. Click on the “OK” button
Warning: Wait to have completely downloaded the file before closing Internet Explorer.
10. Close the “Internet” connection.

11. Now you can copy the file Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1 to a pen drive or burn in an empty cd-rom.

PROCEDURE A: “COMPLETE” SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

Warning: The “Complete” software installation cancels all the previous data! Select this option
only if you want to install the Ellipse140 software with the database empty.

Note: It is recommended to close all applications before installing the software.

1. Insert the CD or Pen drive and double-click on the file Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1.exe and wait

2. In the “Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1 Setup” window, click on the “Next” button

3. In the “Setup Type” window, select the “Complete” option (to perform the full software

installation) and then, click on the “Next” button

4. If this message box appears:

- Select “Yes” to continue with the installation overwriting any previously installed
software and wait for the copy of the files

- Select “No” to exit the installation.

5. In the “Language Selection” message box, click on the “Language” option you wish to install.

6. In the “Editor ………..” message box, click on the “Yes” button and then click on “OK” button.

7. In the “RegSvr32” message box, click on “OK”.

8. Remove the CD or Pen drive from your PC and restart Windows (if required).

The "Complete" installation of Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1 software was completed, and a shortcut to
Ellipse140 software was created on the desktop.

PROCEDURE B: “UPGRADE” SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

Note: Upgrading the software does not cancel previous data (methods, patient’s data, controls and
calibrators)

Warning: It is recommended to close all applications before upgrading the software and make a
copy of your current Analyzer.mdb.

1. Insert the CD or Pen drive and double-click on the file Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1.exe and wait

2. In the “Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1 Setup” window, click on the “Next” button

3. In the “Setup Type” window, select the “Upgrade” option and click on the “Next” button

4. The next message box appears only if the Setup is updating the release 1.0.3 to release 2.1.1

- Select “Yes” to continue with the upgrading

- Select “No” to exit the installation

5. In the “Language Selection” message box, click on the “Language” option you wish to

6. In the “Editor ………..” message box, click on the “Yes” button and then click on “OK”

7. In the “RegSvr32” message box click on “OK” button

8. The next message box appears only if the Setup is updating the release 1.0.3 to release 2.1.1

9. Remove the CD or Pen drive from your PC and restart Windows (if required).
Note: After the upgrade from release 1.0.3 to release 2.1.1 , you must enable the user by default to
all features of the Ellipse Software:
10. On the desktop make a double click on the "analyzer140" icon

11. Wait until the Ellipse software starts

12. In the “Login” enter the user "assel" and password "assel", all lowercase, then click the green
button to confirm

13. Click on "Parameters", then "Accounts", then "Users Profile" button

14. In the “User List” window select the user “Assel” then click on the green button to confirm

15. In the "User Profile" window insert flags in all the entries in the box right and then click on
the green button to confirm

16. Exit from all windows and restart the software before working.

PROCEDURE C: SERVICE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

1. Insert the CD or Pen drive and double-click on the file Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1.exe and wait

2. In the “Ellipse140 rel 2.1.1 Setup” window, click on the “Next” button

3. In the “Setup Type” window, select the “Service” (Service Software Installation) and then, click
on the “Next” button

4. A window named “Select Components” will appear with the file “TestEllipse” marked. Press
“Next”

5. A window named “TestEllipse Setup” will appear. Press “OK”.

6. On the next window, click on the square button.

7. A window named “Test Ellipse – Choose Program group” will appear. Press “Continue”.

(Warning: if the “VERSION CONFLICT” message box appears, always click on the “Yes” button)

8. A message box “TestEllipse Setup” [TestEllipse Setup was completed successfully] will appear.
Press “OK”.

9. Remove the CD or Pen drive from your PC and restart Windows (if required).

PROCEDURE D: FIRMWARE UPGRADING

Note: “PC + ANALYZER” SWITCHED ON”
1. Start the “TestEllipse” program (from “Start” -> “Programs”) by clicking on it.
2. In the “Parameters” area, select “Upload Parameters” key. [Important: this step is very
important because it permits to read parameters and save them to file].

Wait for parameter’s acquisition

3. In the “Firmware” area, click on the “Download FW” key.

4. A window named “Open” will be opened. Enter into the folder named “TestEllipse”. A file
named “AELPSW32” will be showed.
5. Click twice on the “AELPSW32” file in order to launch it.
6. A windows named “TestEllipse Ver. 1.0.3” will be showed. Wait until the following message
appears:
“Download successfully completed!”
7. In the “Parameters” area, click on “Download Parameters” key.
8. A message “Write parameters [Would you like to replace the existing system parameters with
the system parameters from existing file?]” appears. Click on “Yes” key.
9. In the “TestEllipse” window, below the “Status” area, check the presence of the following
strings: <2WROK31>
<2WFOK25>
10: In the “Status” area, click on “Exit” key in order to close the application.

WARNING: if any problem occurs then, repeat the “Firmware Upgrading Procedure” SKIPPING the
step n° 2 [TO AVOID THE READING AND SAVING OF WRONG PARAMETERS].
