Impact of Cavite Mutiny that leads to Execution of GomBurZa

There are two different sides of story regarding Cavite Mutiny. According to

Spanish account Cavite Mutiny was an attempt to overthrow the Spanish government in

the Philippines but this is a biased account that is written to favor the Spanish

government and to cover up their mistake. The true story in Cavite Mutiny was just a

short-lived revolt of Filipino soldier and workers at Cavite arsenal. It is just a protest

against the abolition of privilege, such as exemption to the tax and force labor to the

Spanish government. This called “revolution” of the Spanish government became a

serious issue because of the involvement of the native clergy named Father Mariano

Gomez, Father Jose Burgos, and Father Jacinto Zamora which at that time desire to

balance the force of stability and order within the church system but this is just an

accusation of the Spanish friar on them which makes them “conspired and supported”

the said rebellion.

The impact of Cavite Mutiny and the execution of GomBurza in that time are they

starts to open the nationalism mind of the people and this leads to the creation of

Philippine Nationalist movement which aims on the freedom of their own country against

the Spanish rules. The martyrdom of GomBurZa inspired and influenced the writings of

Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines.
