CHAPTER 2

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter introduces the details of research design, research

environment, respondents of the study, and the research problems.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The method that the researchers will be using is the descriptive

method. It is designed to provide the research information about what is

happening in the present.

The study is about the “Factors that affect the Course Preference of Grade

12 students of SJHSSI”, the researchers aim to find out the factors that affects

a student in decision making through the use of a questionnaire. This study is

focused on the present that is why the researchers use the descriptive

method.

RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT

The study was handled within the premises of Saint Joseph’s High

School in Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental. All the answers will be coming from

the Grade 12 students of Saint Joseph’s High School. Saint Joseph’s High

School is located at Brgy. Poblacion, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental.

RESPONDENTS OF THE STUDY

The respondents of the study were the Grade 12 students of Saint Joseph’s

High School for the School year 2022-2023. The Grade 12 students are 48,

and all of the students answered the questionnaire.


RESEARCH PROCEDURES

The researchers used one kind of questionnaire composed of four

topics; self-decision, economic demand, parent’s decision and peers’

influence; in order for the researchers to know which factor affects the Grade

12 students’ course preference. No sampling will be used because all the

Grade 12 students will be taken as the respondents in our study.
