The Harlem Renaissance was

a period of rich cross-

disciplinary artistic and

cultural activity among

African Americans between

the end of World War I and

the onset of the Great

Depression and lead up to

World War II.


Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci ,Italian painter, sculptor, builder, engineer

and writer. Versatile Renaissance spirit and one of the

greatest artists in the history of mankind. Studied in Florence

with A. Verrocchi between 1466 and 1469 enrolled in the

Florentine painting association of St. Luke in 1472. He was in the

service of Lodovico Sforza, called il Moro, in Milan , then he

stayed in Mantua and Venice. Between 1500 and 1506, again in

Florence and in Milan 1506–13. After his stay in Rome, when he

traveled to Romagna, Umbria and part of Tuscany in the

service of Cesare Borgia, he created rich topographical

documentation. At the invitation of the French king Francis I, he

went to France in 1517, where he remained until the end of his

life. He considered painting to be his main vocation.

Masaccio. Year In 1489, he was admitted to the sculpture

school in the Medici garden led by Bertoldo di Giovanni,

Donatello's associate.
Raphael
Raphael, Italian in full Raffaello Sanzio or Raffaello Santi,

master painter and architect of the Italian High

Renaissance. Raphael is best known for his Madonnas and

for his large figure compositions in the Vatican. His work is

admired for its clarity of form and ease of composition and

for its visual achievement of the Neoplatonic ideal of human

grandeur.
