FOREWORD

Greetings, Arcadian!

A warm welcome to Arcadia, a land of peace where new stories are

waiting to unfold!

This new school environment may start off as an unfamiliar one. It is only

natural to feel out of place at first, especially after leaving the comfort of

your old school. Nevertheless, after one chapter ends, another begins -

one with new friendships in a new community.

To start your journey in this exciting new land, you will be joining us on an

adventure to retrieve the four weapons of Arcadia's greatest heroes to

protect Arcadia's Fountain of Youth from invaders! But you won't be

undergoing this alone; your fellow companions are here to support you!

We are certain that together, you can all defeat the invaders and protect

Arcadia as a team.

Do not hesitate to befriend other adventurers as you encounter different

situations and challenges together. This adventure may not be a walk in

the park, but we guarantee that an open mind will open doors. We wish

you all the best in your adventure ahead!

- The 45th Student Council

LORE

There was a time when the world was so young that there had not

yet been a single sunrise. But even then… There was Arcadia, a land

of peace, where the Fountain of Youth stood.

Granting eternal youth, it allowed its rulers to thrive in longevity,

maintaining Arcadia’s status as a city of happiness and prosperity.

However, a millennium has passed and the once overflowing fountain

is now devoid of its once famous spring of youth. The last bottle is

now kept in the sacred temple of Arcadia, protected by the Wizard.

Desperate to protect the bottle from invaders, the Wizard summoned

the four great heroes of Arcadia from the past to help him:

Nila, Yael, Jano & Cara.

But before they can help the Wizard defeat the invaders, they must

search for their weapons, hidden all across Arcadia.

They need your help!

2 GUARDIANS’ ARCHIVE

NILA

Nila the Mighty, the skilled warrior that stands with Arcadia. Nila is

the strongest among the heroes of Arcadia. With his body strength,

together with his Warhammer of Justice, no enemy stands in his way.

He is respected among both commoners and nobles for his strong

sense of servitude towards the kingdom. He is never afraid of facing

confrontation, as long as it results in keeping Arcadia safe. Similarly,

recruits of Nila possess both courage and the compulsion to serve

the greater good. They are always ready, if not eager, to face

challenges that lie ahead of them. This optimism plays a part in

motivating the team to tackle any problems encountered.

YAEL

Yael the Lithe, an agile ranger dwelling in the shadows of Arcadia.

Yael is an experienced ranger who uses her environment to her

advantage. With her speed from her Winged Shoes of Hermes, no

enemy can outrun her. She takes pride in completing her missions as

swiftly as possible, leaving no room for mistakes or setbacks. One can

count on her to get the job done. Stories of Yael are heard in every

corner of the land. Likewise, Yael recruits are sharp and able to settle

problems quickly. They are nimble and able to navigate through

tough situations. This level of efficiency is invaluable in ensuring the

effectiveness of the team.

JANO

Jano the Gracious, an elf blessed by the spirits of nature to become

the healer of men. Jano is a kind and caring soul, always putting

others before himself. He is the best at providing comfort to those

facing worries. Having helped injured warriors and illness-ridden

civilians alike by playing peaceful music with his Guitar of Apollo, he

has gained the utmost trust of Arcadia. If there is one thing he

dislikes the most, it is conflict. In the same manner, Jano recruits are

compassionate and always willing to look after their peers. When

someone is in need, one can be sure that recruits of Jano would be

the first to aid them. They try their best to avoid disputes and

arguments, creating a team of harmony and synergy.

CARA

Cara the Prescient, the astute Arcadian academic. Cara is able to

analyse every detail and plan every move, thanks to her brilliance,

and the Parasol of Kronos, helping her foresee the near future. She

has contributed greatly to the development of Arcadian technology,

helping to protect the kingdom from dangerous external forces.

Indeed, you would have your mind at ease knowing your team can't

go wrong with Cara. By the same token, Cara recruits quickly pick up

knowledge and information. They patiently think and evaluate before

coming to a conclusion. They also serve to clear any

misunderstandings and doubts their peers may have. Therefore, they

are imperative in ensuring that their team fully understands the

situation before taking action.

6 FESTIVALS
SUBJECT FIESTA

The thirst for knowledge is often overwhelming. Our subject fiesta hopes

to allow Arcadians to make a more informed decision when picking

subjects so as to quench this search for knowledge. In the case where

clarifications on subject combinations and individual subjects are required,

do feel free to consult the teachers at the subject booths. This will take

place from 1pm - 3pm in the Hall on the 3rd of February. Additionally, the

Subject Information Booklet and sample lecture recordings can be found in

the Orientation 2023 repository in NY Portal as well. We wish you all the

best in your quest for knowledge!

LAYOUT
CCA BAZAAR

The CCA Bazaar will allow you to learn more about the Co-curricular

Activities (CCA) offered by Nanyang. Our college offers Sports CCAs,

Aesthetics Groups, Clubs & Societies as well as Leadership CCAs. CCAs in

the college are optional yet almost all of the students in our college opt to

join one or even multiple CCAs. Through CCAs, NYJCians meet new

friends and learn many other soft skills that are difficult to develop in the

classroom. The CCA Bazaar will take place from 2pm - 4pm on the 15th of

February in various venues in college (i.e. Hall, Concourse, Seashell Wall

and Atrium). Explore your options and enjoy your quest!
