01.03 Playing Melodies 10 75

01.04 Who Wants to be a Rock Star? 25 75

● Complete lesson 1.03 . Be sure to play along with all the videos so
you understand each exercise and be careful, because page 8 has 6 embedded pages!

● Complete assessment 01.03 Playing Melodies Quiz.

● Click the gradebook and check your score. Click on 01.02 Tuning and Playing the
Guitar which should be highlighted in green in your gradebook and read the teacher
comments to ensure you completed the assessment correctly.

● Complete lesson 1.04 . Choose two guitarists (how about two that
influenced you?) and research the questions on page 4.
● When doing research, what other information do you find? Write down one extra
interesting fact. Write down just a couple of words so you don’t end up plagiarizing (or
copying) a website.

● Complete assessment 01.04 Who Wants to be a Rock Star? using the words you
wrote down to construct a 3-question “interview” for this assessment. You can type your
questions and answers into the Student Comments box or into a word-type document
that you can upload to the assessment using the “Add file” button. Before submitting,
read the rubric on page 4 to make sure you have included all the required information!

● Text your teacher for a DBA time!

WEEK 2 PRACTICE PLAN (10-15 min/day)

1. Practice tuning your guitar daily, saying the name of each string, using the notes
on page 4, a tuner, or a tuning app (check off each day you practice this below)
2. Practice the Four Finger Workout (1.03) daily. Start by playing with the “Left
Hand Alone” (demonstrated on page 4) and the “Right Hand Alone”
(demonstrated on page 5) before playing “Hands Together” (demonstrated on
page 6). This week, look at your hand, making sure your left hand form is good,
that you are hitting the correct fret with the correct finger, and that you are getting
a good, clear sound!

3. Practice Good Morning to All (1.03) daily. This week, try “chunking”. The melody
is divided into 4 parts (or measures). Learn one part at a time. Start slow and
make sure you are getting a good clear sound on each part before going on to
the next one. Then try part 1 and 2 together, then 3 and 4 and then play the
whole thing!
