Software License for Equipment Specific Software
Software delivered hereunder, either embedded in equipment described herein or specifically designed for use in or with such
equipment, is copyrighted by the seller and shall remain the sole and exclusive property of seller. Seller grants the buyer a perpetual,
worldwide, non-exclusive license to use the software only in or with the equipment. The buyer shall not copy, modify, or disassemble
the software, or permit others to do so. Buyer shall not transfer the license granted hereby or possession of the software except as part
of or with the equipment, such transfer being subject to the restrictions contained herein. Seller may terminate this license upon written
notice for violation of any of the terms of the foregoing license.

B. General Information
The Maintenance Diagnostic System (MDS) aids in detecting and troubleshooting aircraft
component problems by monitoring Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) to determine failures,
identifying LRUs requiring replacement and logging information to permit diagnosis of
faults. Along with the system’s ability to provide avionics maintenance diagnostics, the MDS
also provides for electronic checklist functionality. The MDS is made up of two components:
• MDC-3110/4110 – This provides the base hardware functionality for communicating with
other LRUs in the system, controlling data to the display and processing diagnosed faults.
• MDT-3110 – This provides aircraft unique diagnostic data for the base functionality to
operate on to diagnose faults unique to the aircraft type.

NOTE: This service information letter reflects the part number matrix of the MDT and
its corresponding aircraft type. Installation of MDT modified in accordance
with this service information letter requires a change to the aircraft Type
Certificate/Supplemental Type Certificate (TC/STC) data unless the new
equipment part number is already included in the data.
D. Product Identification
The MDC-3110/4110 identification is on the product nameplate/modification plate. The

marking for the MDT-3110 is contained on either the Compact Disc Read Only Memory
(CD ROM) or floppy disk for the tables.
E. Software Accomplishment Summary
Software Accomplishment Summary document for the MDT-3110, written in accordance

with Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification, Radio
Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA)/DO-178B Level D, CPN 815-6998-001.

(1) Approved Platforms
The MDT-3110 minimally requires an MDC-3110 or MDC-4110. Specific functionality
in the I/O Concentrator Unit (IAPS) system and Adaptive Flight Display (AFD) are
also needed to run the software.
(2) Refer to Section M. Compatibility, of this SIL for the specific combinations of software
products that are available.

(1) Approved software products are available for the Rockwell Collins MDT-3110
Maintenance Diagnostic Tables. The MDT-3110 application disks are certified, and
are made from original computer master data files to ensure the highest integrity as
required for these applications.
NOTE: Refer to the compatibility section to determine the software products that
can be installed in the system, and which may not. All currently available
software products are listed.

J. Estimated Effort
The effort required to install the MDT-3110 is estimated to be 30 minutes using the
approved Rockwell Collins data load equipment and procedure.

L. Installation Procedure
(1) The MDT-3110 can only be loaded by a certified maintenance mechanic.
(2) Refer to the referenced Field Loadable Software Installation Manual for installation
specifics.
NOTE: If previous red label deliveries of the MDT-3110 occurred during development,
it will be necessary to remove the red Installed Software Label from the target
T/L hardware (MDC-3110 or MDC-4110) following the installation of the TSO
approved MDT-3110 per this SIL.
Verify the data load by using the MDC VERSION INFORMATION pages 2/3 and 3/3.
Compare the data on the pages to the following table and to the label information on the
media containing the data that was loaded.
