Topic : Dangerous sports should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Extreme sports have gained enormous popularity in this modern era. Several extreme sports such as
moto racing, car racing, and scuba diving have been huge industries due to the excitement the sports
generated to both competitors and spectators. However, a lot of people think those extreme sports are
highly dangerous and involve great risks that can cause serious health problems or even death, and thus
their existences should be eradicated. This statement may be valid, but in my opinion, they should not
be banned if they use proper safety equipment to minimalize the risks, and since almost every sport has
used it, I think that they should still exist.

Every extreme sport consists of different challenges that requires people to take some sort of risks,
whether it is related to speed like moto racing or altitude like mountain climbing and scuba diving. A
slight mistake from those sports can cause serious health problems, like broken leg that needs surgery,
while a fatal mistake can cause death. A recent death happened in a moto 3 race, where Jason, a Swiss
racer, died because he lost control of his motorcycle and was hit by riders behind. A lot of hikers have
also died because lacking of safety equipment, or just making some fatal mistakes like losing balance
that resulted in death. Those are the risks of participating in extreme sports.

Still, there are several reasons why extreme sports should not be banned. I believe in the freedom for
people to pursue the careers they are passionate about, whether it is extreme sport or not. People like
the adrenaline rush from the sports, and because of that, they usually join on their own will, regardless
of the fact that it can cause death. The only problem is safety, and while it may be scary, it can be
addressed. The fact that technology has made safety equipment more sophisticated means safety can
hardly be a problem unless the rider makes huge blunder. Death rate has dwindled compared to the
century before and in this modern era, safety is almost guaranteed if not absolute. Those are why
extreme sports should not be banned.

In conclusion, it is true that extreme sports involve huge risks and can cause death in some occasion, but
since people often join on their own will and know what risks they might face, it is not necessary to ban
extreme sports. To ensure more safety to participant, it is necessary to have proper safety equipment so
that even if accidents are involved, death is not a certainty.
