UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES
Communication - a process by which information is exchanged between
individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior.
Verbal Communication - means sharing things by means of words, whether spoken
or written.
Nonverbal Communication - is communication without words, only visual cues.
Oral -  is the process of verbally transmitting information and ideas from
one individual or group to another.
Written -  refers to the process of conveying a message through the written
symbols.

Introduce different types of nonverbal communication:

a. Facial expressions – The principal source of feedback.
b. Eye contact – The most expressive element in face-to-face communication.
c. Body movements & posture – The way you stand and hold your body also
sends messages.
d. Gestures – The movement that you make with a part of your body, especially
your hands.
e. Haptics – also known as “touching”.
f. Proxemics – refers to the amount of space that individuals naturally
maintain between each other which communicates meanings.
g. Voice – The way in which a message is spoken is as important as what is
said.
PRESENTATION
Different GIFs will be shown to the class. Each GIF conveys different meanings.
The students will be asked for their interpretations. Expectedly, they may have
different understandings. Therefore, all answers will be entertained.

COMPREHENSION CHECK-UP (Oral Questioning)

How does nonverbal communication differ from verbal communication?

 What are some of the messages that we communicate through our nonverbal
behaviors?
 Which nonverbal behaviors, if any, are universal?
 How do our cultural spaces affect our identities?

Activity
Instruction:
Observe the lady in the picture. What situation is she in?
ANALYSIS:
Questions
1. What situation is she in?
2. What else can we notice from the situation?
3. Is she enjoying her time waiting or has she grown impatient?
4. Who is she waiting for?
5. What basis do you have to support your claim?

IV. ABSTRACTION
Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication

Every action that you do is based on a certain meaning that you really want to
express,
and that expression of your ideas is the message. The message may be either
verbal (spoken or written) or non-verbal (body language, physical appearance, or
vocal tone.
Verbal Communication deals with any form of communication involving words,
spoken,
written, or signed. Not all communication is accomplished with words. What you do,
how you look, and the sound of your voice can send non-verbal messages more
powerful than words.

V. POST ACTIVITIES

ACTIVITY (GROUP)

Application
 The class will be divided into four groups. Each group will be required to have
a short scenario to be performed in front. Of course, before coming up with
the performance, there must be a script. The script should contain verbal
and nonverbal cues. For example: “Girl: Hi! (waving)”
 It is up to the group leaders how they will divide the tasks. As long as all of
the members will participate, a script will be produced, and a short role play will
be performed. Each group will be given 5 minutes to perform and graded base
on the following rubrics.
