ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE
Reflection Paper

Creating or sustaining an organizational culture is not easy due to the fact that at first,
each member has his or her own ideals, beliefs, practices and many more. But despite this, when
a culture is established, it brings a great deal to the organization and to its members.

Organizational culture provides its members with a relaxed working environment, and

harmonious interpersonal relationships in order to give their full potential and abilities. The
culture in an organization allows employees to have a sense of mission and they may feel
responsibility, and work towards the overall goal of the organization. In today's fast changing
environment, the cultural make-up of an organization plays a critical role in the success of the
firm to achieve its strategic objectives.

Unlike tangible things, culture may not be easily defined because generally, a culture is a
mixture of beliefs, values, norms and others that are expressed in work practices and in behavior
of the members in a particular organization such as how each member treats one another and
work ethic is a manifestation of an organization’s culture. This culture may be learned by new
the new members through stories, rituals, material symbols, and language. Although some
cultures encourage innovation and risk taking, others may punish those who challenge
established norms and practices.

In conclusion, an established organizational culture should be beneficial to the growing

organization and to the members of this organization.
