I. Introduction
Literature is one of the most important aspects that exist in this world, not only we
can get an information regarding to the work of literature, but we can also connect it
to a different aspect, rather than just focusing on the literature itself. Numerous
examples can be found regarding on how literature can be a tool for something, one
of literature’s aspect that can be used as a tool is Children Literature. Children
literature is probably a type of literature that has the lack of complexity if it is
compared to other types of literature. But children literature can also become a tool
for children’s development. Not only we can tell a different kind of story from it, but
we can also teach our children by telling the prose or reading the poem and teaching
the message that exist in those children’s literature.

II. The Importance of Children Literature in Child Development


Children Literature concludes all books, poems, magazines, and songs made for
children. Even today there are so many videos on social media platform, dedicated on
the purpose of entertaining children. Even if it is only a simple song, no connotation
behind it, no deeper meaning, it can affect children on their development stage as
human. Children Literature have a big role in the development of the childhood stage
of a human. The development of a child’s acquisition of language has a several
stages. There are six stages of language development in human life and children
literature is one them. According to a research done by an author and psychologist
from Sweeden Carl-Johan Forssen Ehrlin, children sleep cycle really plays an
important role on development growth of a child. By knowing the fact, the author
then writes a book by the name The Rabbit Who Wants to Fall Asleep. Not only does
the author create a wonderful book, but also the author uses children literature as an
aspect of a child development.

III. Children Literature as a Guidance Towards Social Well Being


These days, the idea of having a child with a good behavior is sometimes challenging,
especially with the growth of social media, where children can access pretty much
everything, makes it hard for parents to teach them to be a person with a good social
being. The idea of children having a social well being is so important, and have to be
taught since the stages of development. One way to teach children about social
behavior is through children literature. Children literature have a significantly big role
in this aspect. Children literature can provide children on how to be a good social
being but with an exciting way by using story, songs which contain a simple form of
language, rather than showing them an article. Parents can provide their children a
story that can touch their little heart so their good behavior will be form itself. D.
Jillian Roberts, a Psychologist from Canada mentions that developing an empathy in
children can make them feel what it is like to be in someone else’s shoes.
IV. Children literature in Line with Sustainable Development Goals
Goals can be simply described as a future for every person on earth. Sustainable
development on goals is an important aspect for children, because with it, children
can be more pack and ready to reach their future or goals. As discussed earlier,
children literature has an important role on building a rational mind on children, by
this thought can further enhances children on their capability and adaptability towards
knowledge gaining process. Children literature on the other hand, can make children
more prepare to contribute in how they are going to set their sustainable goals for
their own.

V. Conclusion
Childhood is the most crucial stage in the development timeline of a human life, and
children literature can be a very helpful way in children development, the
development on rational thought and social behavior can turn children’s mind to be
healthier. Children literature also prepares children to be ready and adaptive in their
development stage. By learning all these facts, we can conclude that children
literature is not just a part of a bigger form of literature, but can also be a learning
tools for children to build their rational minds.
