1.0Introduction

For my chapter review I was chosen chapter 4 decision making. Decision making can be
defined as an action or process of thinking through possible options and selecting one.
Objective in this chapter is allows student to Understand the nature of managerial
decision making, differentiate between programmed and nonprogrammed decisions, and
explain why nonprogrammed decision making is a complex, uncertain process. Besides, it
also Describe the six steps managers should take to make the best decisions, and explain
how cognitive biases can lead managers to make poor decisions. Next, it will describe
how managers can encourage and promote entrepreneurship to create a learning
organization, and differentiate between entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.

2.0Chapter review

There are several contents in this chapter. This chapter started with learning objective
that is a goal of information that we need learn in this chapter. This is quite thoughtful
as it gives the reader instructions on what we need to focus on when we study this
chapter. Next, the chapter also introduces decision making by giving a definition of
decision making. In my opinion, it is very good introduction because it is easy to
understand even the student has never learned about decision making before. Then,
this chapter also elaborate about the nature of managerial decision making. In this part
it’s help readers make decisions in response to opportunities and make decisions in
response to threats. This part explains about its in detail and easy to understand.

After that, this chapter also included about programmed decision. By doing this, it’s
helping the readers understand how to make decisions in an organized manner and in
accordance with established rules or guidelines. Thus, when they become an employer
one day, they already know about how to make programmed and it’s will their
company compete with other companies. The chapter continue with Nonprogrammed
decisions. It’s also vital to student because by learn this part it will helps them to
make decision when they are in a situation they are faced with extraordinary,
unpredictable opportunities and threats. By learn this part, they will know about how
to response and overcome this situation without harming his company. Next, decision
making also explains about intuition. In my view, by studying this section, it will help
readers make decisions based on instincts, feelings, beliefs and premonitions that
easily cross their minds and they will also know that they need to put in a little effort
and information gathering, and produce results in place.Next, in this chapter also
explain about Classical Model in decision making. For example, it describes about
Classical model of decision making and Optimum decision. By doing this, readers
will know how to identify and evaluate all possible alternatives and their
consequences and rationally choose the most appropriate course of action. By studied
this chapter, readers also learn about how to make the most appropriate decisions
based on what managers believe to be the most desirable consequences for their
organization.

For my overall opinion about this chapter, I think that this chapter delivered perfectly.
Starting with the leaning objective, it’s helps student to know about what they will
learn about this chapter and they can make a preparation. This chapter also was start
with simple information that readers can understood easily. The verse and vocabulary
that used to delivered information in this chapter also simple and easier to understand.
Thus, I think that is a great chapter with well written structure.

3.0 The Real Issue Happen in Organization/country related to the topic.

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) fast food restaurant decided to temporarily stop using
the slogan “... to lick fingers”. As the COVID-19 outbreak urged people to stop
touching their faces, KFC in a statement said there was something wrong with the
slogan that had been used for the past 64 years. The company made its new
appearance via a video on YouTube, which showed the slogan found on the poster
reading: "The slogan we always say? Ignore it. For now."

6
4.0. The Importance of the chapter choosen.

One of the most useful benefits of being an excellent decision maker is that it saves
time. You know the decisions you can make just by trusting your instincts, and which
ones require research first. The ability to make educated, yet fast decisions will free
up your time from overthinking. Fostering Respect for employers. Employees want
strong leaders they can follow, and one way to impress your team is to show them
how comfortable you are making decisions. If you show a confident and
knowledgeable managerial attitude, your employees will feel happy because they can
trust their boss to point them in the right direction.

7
5.0 The Application in Organization and Society.

One of application decision making in organization is decision making in production.

One example that happened in decision making in management was receiving calls on
production facilities. As the company’s business grew and demand grew, the firm had
to increase its production capacity. The next step is to determine the amount of
installation capacity required to meet demand effectively. Firms also need to identify
the appropriate equipment for that purpose and the manpower to carry out the
production process. The decisions made need to be guided by the fact that the main
goal is to increase production sustainably so that the firm has the flexibility to
increase or decrease without incurring high costs.

One of application decision in society is make decisions in choosing leaders. Every

five years, Malaysia will hold a general election to elect a leader. Society will decide
by voting and electing the leaders that they think are qualified to govern the country.

6.0 Conclusion

In a nutshell, there are a lot of things that we can learn by studied this chapter. By
doing this essay, we also can know about real issue, the importances and application
of decision making. Thus, I think its importance to learn this chapter because decision
making play a critical role to all parties, in all situation in daily life.
