UNFREEZING AFGANISTAN ASSETS

The General Assembly, The General Assembly,

Guided by the opinions of the United States and Kenya, unfreezing Afgnaistan
assets will benefit the country,

Realizing that unfreezing the assets will lif the concern of the humanitarian
situation in Afghanistan,

Recalling that the Taliban will have to adherer to the beliefs of the United
Nation’s view on human rights,

Believing that unfreezing the assets would provide banks with liquidity to help the
Humanitarian crisis in Afganistan “frozen assets, as well as banking and
liquidity matters. However, this is proving to be a complicated process and
the timeframe for resolving the problem is unclear. Meanwhile, the
situation for the Afghan people continues to go from bad to worse, with an
estimated 82 percent of families being in debt, and millions more hungry
and malnourished.” (Moschochoritis)

Confidant that unfreezing the assets will lead to the improvement of treatment for
the Afghan people,

1. Requests that the United Nations and the United States unfreeze all of
Afghanistan's assets immediately to ensure lively hood of the women and
children who are stuck without food and resources due to the freezing of
Afghanistans assets, and positively benefit the county to help build up
their economy and give their banks more liquidy;
2. Designates unfreezing Afganistans assets will positively benefit the

help pull the country out of severe debt;

(With unfreezing assets will give the banks more flow of money helping
The nation return to a stable economy;

get food, along with new income to help them reach such resources (water,

3. Requests that action to the Afghanistan humanitarian crisis starts

immediately to help prevent any more suffering throughout the nation;

4. Confirms that it will have to take place in the United States and Afghanistan,
the countries won't have to unfreeze all of the assets at once, they can start
by slowly distributing the money back out to the nation, in the hope that it
will help keep them out of debt and keep their economy afloat, this will
only work if the Taliban don't take it for themselves;

5. Accepts that accomplishment will be made with the resolution once, the
Taliban can fix their ways and give themselves a clean name, then they
can rebuild connuetions and relationships with other nations.

Kenya policy paper

Although Kenya is a strong nation country they don't have many strong views on the

Afghanistan Crisis, Kenya does have a six-hundred-year relationship with China whose main

goal is to let the Taliban form a stable government which includes unfreezing their assets.

China and Kenays relationship has been formed for almost a millennium stitching back to

even before Kenya was established as a nation. Both countries have strong economic ties with

one another and have large trading partners. The article titled China and Kenya relations:

Investments and challenges states, “China and Kenya have a long history of trade, with

archaeological discoveries showing that goods were exchanged alongside the Kenyan coast as far

back as 600 years ago.”(China) Due to that relationship, Kenya will follow and support China's

actions following the Afghanistan crisis.

Although China and Kenya do not agree with all of the violations of human rights and

mistreatment that is taking place in Afghanistan, they feel that unfreezing assets is a good first

stepping stone to the strong government that the countries are hoping for. Unfreezing the assets

would do a number of things for the nation. It helps get the economy back afloat and pull the

county out of debt. It also brings back basic human needs and desires such as clean running

water, electricity, and much more. The article titled U.S. to Move Afghanistan’s Frozen Central

Bank Reserves to New Swiss Fund states, “ And from a positive perspective, the move makes it

possible to utilize this portion of the reserves for specific purposes involving banking, finance,
and economic stabilization, but not going through the Taliban administration.” (U.S.) China has

plans to fulfill these points and try and get the assets unfroze. while also trying to supply the

country with money and resources without it going threw the Taliban. Kenya will do the same

trying to offer the same support due to the relationship between China and Kenya.
