Project: Leadership and Organizational Behavior

Topic: A leadership crisis situation that you were involved in. If you observed someone
else handle something very well o very poorly, you may write about that instead.

Questions:

1. What happened? What were the results?

-My case refers to an experience I had in my past job in Honduras, as a payroll analyst for
the company 24-7 Intouch. My job, as the name says, was to oversee all the payrolls of all
the workers at the call center, I need to keep track of their medical leaves, permissions,
vacations, absences, times worked, bonuses, liquidation paychecks, and many others. My
position went hand by hand with the Operations department, so we depended on the work
they delivered to us to make each payroll, as they were the ones getting the information
from their systems of the shifts and times worked by all the employees.
A week before starting the bi-weekly payroll se sent an email to all the operations
supervisors telling them about the deadline they had to deliver to us the information
required to make the corresponding payroll.
-One of the operation supervisors that was under my charge, always delivered to me the
information late and he made several errors in the transfer of information due to his
carelessness. Despite of the help and extra time I gave him to deliver the work it became
something repetitive, and he seem that he didn't care for improving so I decided to report
the situation to mu superiors.

2. Why did this happen?

This person in the Operations department had one of the biggest accounts, which was
Airbnb, he had on the account with the majority of employees, in addition, to that he has
other several responsibilities under his charge in his department. I think this person was not
yet capable of doing his position, he was ascended months before but still was having
trouble handling all his work. Maybe he needed more help of revise their processes to see
what he can do better and improve. I always offer him help and gave him extra time to
deliver the information that I needed.
3. What class concepts are relevant to this situation?

I think that his personality was closely related to his behavior. He acted with consistency,
which is one of the three factors of attributions described and explained during the topic 2
of this course. He acted exactly the same way through different situations, cause others also
had the same problem with him, and his attitude was not the best one for every situation.

4. What did you learn from this?

I can say that I learned how to deal with this type if uncomfortable and stressful situations,
how to stay calm and think in the best way possible. I analyzed the situation and decided
what I thought was the best for all the team.
