familiar with the basic crochet techniques you should be able to follow the
pattern easily.
Mario, Luigi, Peach and Daisy are approximately 10 and 12 cm from head to
bottom. It may vary depending on the kind of yarn and hook size you use as
well as your yarn tension.

TIPS AND INFORMATION
• Be sure to crochet all your amigurumi toys with tight stitches to prevent small
gaps between your stitches when you stuff it. To prevent gaps between your
stitches consider using a smaller size hook than what your yarn recommends.
• There are two major ways to crochet amigurumis: using the V-shaped single
crochet stitch and the X-shaped single crochet stitch. In this pattern, I crochet
my amigurumi using the X-shaped single crochet stitch. When you first take
your yarn through your previous stitch, instead of wrapping your yarn over your
crochet hook you wrap it UNDER your crochet hook. In other words, you “yarn
under”. It is this step that form the X-shaped single crochet stitch.
• Unless said otherwise in the pattern, all details are crocheted in a spiral without
a slip stitch and lifting loops at the start of each round. To keep track of the first
stitch of your round you can mark it using a stitch marker, a safety pin or a
thread.
• After crocheting your next round, you should end right before where you left
your stitch marker which mark the beginning of your previous round.
• Stuff your amigurumi as you go. It will become difficult to stuff them when
you’re almost done and only have a round of 6 stitches. Don’t be afraid to stuff
your amigurumi fully, unless stated otherwise.
• When changing colours, always change your yarn at the last step of the last
stitch of your previous colour (that is to say when you’ve yarn under once and
you have two loops on your crochet hook -for single crochet-, take the new yarn
to pull through both loops).

When working with a chain

There are different ways to work with a chain.
You can either work on the front loop or the back bump.
Depending on what you want to achieve, you might prefer to use each methods. Assume
working with flo on chains, unless specified otherwise.
For example, if I want the hair string to look straighter, I would work with the back bump.
On the contrary, if I want a more curly look, I’ll prefer the front loop of the chain, as it will
more naturally curl.
As for any other pieces such as the mustache, the crown, I’ll crochet in the back bump
mostly for aesthetic purposes: you’ll less see a gap working in the flo.

The semi-change colour method

You might not use this method often, but it may come in handy when you’ll work on the flo
of a round with a different colour than the one you use to do the previous round. On the last
round before your semi-change, do your final yarn over with the new colour (picture 5).
When you insert your hook through your stitch, yarn under with the A yarn (picture 6), the
yarn of your previous round. For the final yarn over, use the B yarn (picture 7), the yarn of
your future round. As you do this, twist your yarn (picture 8 to 10), so that each strand of
yarn is knotted and keep more or less the shape of a normal stitch.

Changing colour
To change colour, you’ll always do it on the last sc of the previous colour (picture 13).
For example:
Rnd 1: 4sc, change to pink, 4sc
After your first 3sc, you’ll only do a YU with your A-Colour and then do the next YO with
your B-Colour (picture 14).

The invisible finish

For some pieces, you’ll use this technique.
To do this: once you have done your last stitch from your last round, make a slst in next
stitch. Skip a stitch and insert your needle in the next stitch (picture 17). Then, insert your
needle back in the blo of your slst as well as in the sc where you did your slst (so from the
rnd before) (picture 18). Secure yarn and cut.

The picot stitch

This stitch is used when we want to add a little tip, usually between two dc or tr, etc.
After your last st. make a ch, then insert your hook in the two loops formed by the last st.
and slst, then follow the instructions for the next stitches.
A ch-picot means you only make one ch before inserting your hook in the two loops
formed by the previous stitch.
Here, the highlighted loops are the ones formed by the tr.

Assembly
1. Sew the arms between rnds 2 and 3 of the body (picture 73). Pass your needle through
2 stitches on the body and through 2 dc of the sleeves (picture 74-755). Do this a few
times.
2. Sew or glue the hair on the head, see (picture 81). Be sure to “level” the hair so that there
isn’t one side longer than the other on each side and that the “pic” of the fringe is right in the
middle. For the strands of hair from each side of the “pic”: you take the 2 strands (A & B-slst)
from the surface slst (picture 79) and the first strands of hair (A-cap) from the hair cap and
you twist it a little.
3. Sew or glue the four diamonds on the crown (picture 80)
4. Sew or glue the big diamond on Peach’s chest, on round below her chin. (picture 81)
5. Embroider the nose between the rnd 12 and 13. See next page for instructions.
6. Sew or glue the crown on Peach’s head. If you sew it, sew if from the inside so that the
crown looses a little volume. I glued it on her head.

1. Sew the arms between round 2 and 3 of the body (picture 62 to 63). Pass a few times
your needle through 2 stitches on the body and through 2 dc of the sleeves (picture 64).
2. Sew or glue the hair on the head, see (picture 65-66). Be sure to “level” the hair so that
there isn’t one side longer than the other on each side and that each little lock of hair is more
or less two stitches apart from the eye (picture 65). The hair is 4 stitches above the eyes. Glue
2/3 of the hair strings (picture 66).
3. Sew or glue the fringe. The little “pics” are 2 stitches above the eyes, sew/glue only the
center piece, leave the two locks (picture 70). When putting it on her hair, make it a little
puffy so that it has a little volume (you can even add a bit of fiber fill). To add volume, sew

4. Sew or glue the fours diamonds on the crown (picture 68)

Take your yellow yarn and pass it through

Bricks
The brick block is made of 4 different types of
bricks. Using caramel:
For the chains here, always start from 2nd chain
from hook and on the back bump of chain.
A bricks of 6 rnds - make 8
Rnd 1: ch3
Rnd 2-7: 2sc, ch1 and turn [2] - 6 rnds
Fasten off and cut yarn.
B bricks of 5 rnds - make 4
Rnd 1: ch3
Rnd 2-6: 2sc, ch1 and turn [2] - 5 rnds
Fasten off and cut yarn.
C bricks of 4 rnds - make 14
Rnd 1: ch3
Rnd 2-5: 2sc, ch1 and turn [2] - 4 rnds
Fasten off and cut yarn.
For 8 of the 14 bricks, fasten off leaving a long
tail for sewing (see next page).
D bricks of 3 rnds - make 2
Rnd 1: ch3
Rnd 2-4: 2sc, ch1 and turn [2] - 3 rnds
Fasten off and cut yarn.
Using the layout next page assemble your
brick block.
I glued all everything except for the 8 bricks
of 4 rnds (part C) from the top and bottom
of the block. I sew the top and the side of
the bricks to the 6 rnds one (part A).

If you choose to glue the bricks, guide you with
the pictures to secure your yarn on the back of the
bricks. Cut leaving 2mm of the yarn so that it is
glued with the glue.
