ANSWER

For the first speaker Mr. Rod with material entitled Designing and Implementing Focused
Tasks for a Foreign Language Context. Rod Ellis presented that the best method to be
applied to Indonesian students is TBLT. TBLT helps in knowledge development learning,
assignments here are defined as work made by the teacher to be done by students, and in
completing assignments it is necessary to use students' language resources to
communicate, basically all language skills can be developed with TBLT. Being able to
create opportunities for students to learn to use the language they learn to communicate
naturally and real. Grammar assignments are a type of assignment that allow students to
use linguistic features. Grammar tasks have types of tasks such as input-based tasks,
production-based tasks and awareness tasks where each task has criteria, strengths and
some limitations.

The second speaker, Ms. Lindsay Herron, explained cosmopolitan communication with
the title Welcoming the Global Community: Class Activities Encouraging Cosmopolitan
Communication. Herron's mother stressed the importance of communication in everyday
life. Cosmopolitan communication has similarities with cross-cultural communication.
Cosmopolitan communication is bigger than local vs. global. Cosmopolitan
communication is more effective, responsive, open, friendly, wise, and empathetic so that
it has 2 aspects, namely Caring and Critical Ethics. Mrs. Lindsay sparked the idea of
"Cosmopolitan Communication" which is closely related to the tourism industry. The
reason why tourism is closely related to tourism is because it has similarities with
intercultural communication.
The third speaker, Mr. Paul in his presentation explained about the contribution of culture
to the development of teaching and learning English. Every country has a certain culture.
English is an international, universal language that is used outside the world. The
Ministry of Tourism said it wanted to increase tourism products, the product was English-
speaking tours. Like the Philippines, Indonesia needs very good English help. The first
step is to talk to the Ministry, and first of all we have to find out who will be teaching. It
all starts with education. Imagine if other countries come to study English in Indonesia.
This is necessary to make Indonesia a tool for learning English in the world.

the fourth speaker, Mrs. Santri Djahimo delivered material entitled Language and
Attitudes: An Overview and Reflection on Tourism and Hospitality in the Province of
NTT, Indonesia. In the material presented, on English skills and attitudes of the local
community as well as providing information to the audience regarding the latest tourism
and hospitality at ten tourist attractions in NTT which shows the extent of awareness and
knowledge. Ibu Santri realizes that the tourism industry is a field that can supply the
Indonesian economy . Research conducted by Mrs. Santri uses qualitative methods
through observation and interviews. Using a qualitative method, Mrs. Santri tries to find
out the attitude of the local community towards tourists at 10 tourist objects in the
Province of NTT. The speaker conveyed the results of his research which included
attitudes and knowledge that were lacking in the local community. This is because many
tourist attractions have not been promoted by the government and lack of infrastructure,
tourist attractions, businesses related to tourism, etc.
