This study explored the Upshot of Sudden Refine on Graduating Students’ Co-Curricular
Activities: Conventional Clubs vs Skills Development Program (School Year 2019-2020). It
sought to determine the significant difference between Conventional Clubs vs Skills
Development Program in terms of Interest, Enhancing Critical Thinking Skills and Helps Learn
New Skills Aside from Academics, Difficultly, Preparing Students to be College-Ready,
Dullness, Helping Students Gain Practical Knowledge, Offering Hands-On Activities that are
Not Burdensome, Appropriateness and Suitability for Senior High School Students’ Co-
Curricular Activities, Helping Students Excel in Different Fields, and Flexibility.

The respondents of this study were the Grade 12 respondents of Claret School of
Zamboanga City, enrolled during the year 2019-2020.

This study employed an Experimental Research Design and utilized a simple sampling
procedure in choosing one hundred and thirty-two (132) respondents.
iv

The statistical tools used in this study included frequency, percentage, mean and t-test for
Independent Sample. The raw data were given minutes through the measures of these statistical
tools to support the findings and arrived at valid conclusions.

The findings of this study revealed that: (1) Among the 132 respondents, 66 graduating
students or 50% of them, prefer the newly implemented system program, called Skills
Development Program over the Conventional Clubs that they had way back Grade 11; (2) the
weighted mean of 0.5 agreed that Skills Development Program helps them enrich their strengths
and weaknesses, as well as it expands their knowledge concerning their desired profession; (3)
There is a significant difference between Conventional Clubs and Skills Development Program
in terms of: Difficulty, Preparing Students to be College-Ready, Dullness, Helping Students to
Gain Practical Knowledge, and Appropriateness and Suitability for Senior High School Students’
Co-Curricular Activities. On the other hand, the is no significant difference between
Conventional Clubs and Skills Development Program in terms of: Interest, Enhancing Critical
Thinking Skills and Learning New Skills Aside from Academics, Offering Hands-On Activities
that are Not Burdensome, Helping Students to Excel in Different Fields, and Flexibility.

Therefore, we conclude that most of the Senior High School Graduating Students prefer
the newly implemented program, called Skills Development Program over Conventional Clubs
that they have experienced way back Grade 11. The two (2) positive effects that are being
delineated in this study proved that the newly implemented program, which is the Skills
Development Program aided the students to enhance their strengths and weaknesses and it
deepens further their ability and knowledge regarding to their desired profession. In addition, it is
also concluded that there is a significant difference between Conventional Clubs and Skills
Development in terms of difficulty to deal with, preparing students to be college-ready,
boringness, helps students gain more practical knowledge, and appropriateness and suitability for
Senior High School Students, in which it is confirmed that they both have their respective
differences, in a way that both of the programs aided the students with different assistance and
experiences. Along with that, there are following aspects where Conventional Clubs and Skills
Development Program perform equal and that has no significant difference: level of interest,
enhancing students’ critical thinking skills and helps them learn new skills aside from academics,
v

offers many hands-on activities that are not burdensome, helps students excel in different fields,
and flexibility.
