ABSTRACT
The nutrients in soil are depleted when it is used for farming on a regular basis. Fertilizer
is organic substance that is put to soil to provide critical nutrients for plant growth. The purpose
of this research is to see if eggshell and fermented plant juice, kangkong, can be used to help plants
grow more effectively. The researchers can find distinctions in the impact of each organic fertilizer
on plants by experimenting with eggshell and fermented plant juice. The aim of this paper is to
study and analyze how Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ), Eggshell Fertilizer (ESF), and Water
(Control) differ on their effect on the plants. This experiment needed a total of eight (8) plants with
its corresponding ratio of dilution per fertilizer. The experiment lasted for 30 days which started
on the 16th of November 2021 and ended on 15th of December 2021. The final result of this study
showed that the combined ratio of 1:100 of FPJ and ESF Plant in FPJ Plant 3 has the larger growth
in height compared in other plants as well as the size of its leaf growth. The total number of leaves
growth is observed in FPJ Plant 1 with four (4) leaves growth compared to other plants. Since the
eggshell and fermented plant juice are obtained from home waste, this experimental investigation
indicates that eggshell and fermented plant juice can be used as fertilizer at no cost.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Organic fertilizer is an important part of agricultural sustainability since it helps to improve
soil fertility. Organic fertilizers provide the advantages of being inexpensive, enhancing soil
structure, texture, and aeration, boosting the soil's ability to retain water, and boosting healthy root
growth. Minerals, animal sources, sewage sludge, and plants are all sources of organic fertilizer.
Vegetables, animals, and residual materials all played a role in increasing soil organic matter
content. As a result, it is advised that integrated nutrient management be used to improve soil
productivity over time by making proper use of organic fertilizers and scientifically managing
them for increased optimum development, yield, and quality of various crops. Organic fertilizers
are manufactured from natural ingredients, as is the case with our biodegradable wetsuit. Compost
is often generated from decomposing biodegradable trash.
Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ) can be used to speed up the fruiting process and enhance
production in several leafy green vegetables. It can be applied directly to the soil as a foliar spray
or indirectly to feed the microbiome and improve soil health. It's incredibly simple and
straightforward to produce. It can be produced from a variety of non-citrus fruits, including some
that are classified as vegetables yet contain a lot of potassium. Sugar is employed as a fermentation
agent in FPJ, and the process takes seven to 10 days. Fermented Kangkong Juice is high in
enzymes, which help plants and young chickens grow faster. When administered to crops, the

enzymes aid in the enhancement and maintenance of plant color through photosynthesis. (Andres,
2017)
Eggshell fertilizer (ESF) is made from crushed eggshells and vinegar, which is high in
calcium carbonate, a mineral that helps plants' cell walls stay strong. Other minerals that aid plant
growth, including as potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium, can be found in the shells. As a
result, eggshells are a cost-efficient and excellent fertilizer for outdoor garden soil and houseplants.
Many plants, but not all, will benefit from eggshell fertilizer. Fruit-bearing plants and vegetables,
such as apples, strawberries, lettuce, cucumbers, and eggplants, can benefit from eggshell
fertilizer. Roses and chrysanthemums are among the flowers, perennials, and annuals that will
benefit from it.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to determine the effectivity of Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ) and Eggshell
Fertilizer (ESF) in the growth of Kangkong plants in comparison with the application of water.
Specifically, this research would determine how the calcium carbonate of Chicken eggshells and
the pigment of fermented Kangkong affect the growth and color of Eggplants in terms of its seed
germination, length and width of leaves, and lastly, the height of the plant.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study can be helpful in analyzing the effects of different organic fertilizers, Fruit Plant
Juice (FPJ) and Eggshell Fertilizer (ESF) in Kangkong plant in comparison with the application
of water (control).

Environment. This study will benefit the environment as fertilizers contains toxins that could
harm our environment, and with that, organic fertilizers are efficient to use. Too much fertilizer in
the soil can change the soil's fertility by raising acid levels in the soil. Fertilizers contain nitrates
and phosphates, which are washed into lakes and oceans by rainwater and sewage. These
compounds become poisonous to aquatic life, causing an increase in the growth of algae in water
bodies and a decrease in oxygen levels. This creates a poisonous environment, which causes fish
and other aquatic creatures and plants to perish. The nitrogen and other compounds found in
fertilizers can have an impact on groundwater and drinking water.
Farmers. This study will benefit the farmers as they are the one who plants crops and yields.
Organic fertilizers like Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ) and Eggshell Fertilizer (ESF) can be produced
using food wastes like eggs and other fruit and vegetable peels. It will save the farmers a big
amount of money in fertilizers as it’s a no cost fertilizers.
Community. This study will benefit the community, who consumes food like fruits, vegetables,
rice, etc. Organic fertilizers are healthier than for plants than inorganic fertilizers that contains
toxins and other harmful chemicals that could harm the community for the foods they eat.
Future Researchers. This study will serve as an open resource for other researchers to make use
of; it can be researched continually to further improve evidences on how Fermented Plant Juice
(FPJ) and Eggshell Fertilizer (ESF) affect plants in comparison with the application of water.

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES
This chapter reviews previous studies and literatures, which relate to use of organic
fertilizers such as Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ) and Eggshell Fertilizer (ESF) and its effect on
Eggplant. It aims to have a comprehensive overview of the previous researches and provide initial
knowledge on the plant’s growth.
FOREIGN STUDIES
Effects of Fermented Plant Juice. The usage of fermented plant juice (FPJ) as foliar fertilizer
along with the fertigation system is expected to increase and improve yield and quality of the
eggplant. The foliar application becomes promptly available to the crops because form of nutrient
application is better than direct fertilization. The major aims of this study were to investigate the
influence of different types and combinations of FPJ and changes of vegetative growth,
physiology, yield and quality of eggplant. (Alam, Md., 2017)

CHAPTER III
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter discusses the research methods used in this study. The researchers describe
the various research processes, which includes the research design, data gathering procedure, and
the process of data analysis.
Materials:

1. Collect plant material.
2. Cut and weigh the plant material.
3. Add Molasses.
4. Pack the plant-material-and-molasses mixture in a container.
5. Check the container after 24 hours and adjust the volume if necessary.
6. Let the contents ferment undisturbed.
7. Separate the liquid from solids.
8. Secure the FPJ properly.
(For ESF)
1. Rinse the egg shells with water before rinsing it so you can get rid of the remnants of
organic matter and films.
2. Remove inner egg membrane from the shell prior in roasting.
3. With the use of mortar and pestle, or other materials, crash the egg shells.
4. In further remove any organic substance, roast the crushed eggshells over low heat for
45 minutes until lightly brown.
5. Soak roasted eggshells in equal volume of vinegar for two (2) weeks until the vinegar

dissolves the eggshells. Make sure in leave extra eggshells.

6. Cover the mouth of the jar with breathable cloth and secure with rubber bands or ties in
keep out pests.
7. After two (2) weeks, check if bubbles are present in the solution. If bubbles are present,
add more eggshells and let stand for one (1) in two (2) days. Repeat until the solution stop
producing bubbles.
8. In separate the remaining dissolved eggshells. Strain the ESF and eggshell mixture
through a colander in a clean glass or plastic container.
Preparing the Plants
1. Choose the plants/vegetables that you would use for the experiment. (The researcher
used eggplant plants)

SUMMARY OF THE FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS
This chapter presents the summary of the findings and conclusion drawn from the findings.
Summary of the Findings
The summary of observation in the 30-day-log of observation and application of Eggshell Fertilizer
(ESF), Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ), and Water:
• DAY #14: ESF Plant 3 was the first to grow new leaf after ESF application.
• DAY #15: FPJ Plant 4 starts to grow new leaf.
• DAY #15: ESF Plant 1 started to have new leaf (It is observed to have the greatest number of
leaves so far)
• DAY #16: FPJ Plant 1, ESF Plants 2 and 3 is observed having lead discoloration.
• DAY #16: ESF Plant 1 grew its 7th leaf.
• DAY #19: FPJ Plant 3 grew its 5th leaf.
• DAY #19: FPJ Plant 1’s leaf discoloration is observed to be fading.
• DAY #22: Leaf discoloration in ESF Plants 2 and 3 are observed to be fading.
• DAY #26: The researcher changed the amount of water/ESF/FPJ applied from 15 sprays to 25
sprays.

• DAY #30: It is observed that FPJ Plants are more pigmented and does not suffer much from pests
unlike ESF Plants.
CONCLUSION
The primary concern of this study was to determine the effects of Fermented Plant Juice
(FPJ) and Eggshell Fertilizer (FPJ) in the growth of Kangkong plant in comparison with the
application of water for 30 days.

Based on the summary of findings, FPJ Plant 3 is observed to grow taller than other FPJ
Plants in height with a growth of 7.9 cm. ESF Plant 3 is observed to grow the greatest number of
centimeters in height with 7.1 cm in comparison with other ESF Plants. FPJ Plant 3 is observed to
grow bigger leaves than other FPJ Plants and ESF Plant 3 and ESF Plant 4 both have grew leaves
of 3.3 cm in the 30-day-experiment. FPJ Plant 1 and ESF Plant 3 both grew 4 leaves. Therefore,
different organic fertilizers, differ on the growth of plants based on the nutrients they provide with
the plant.
