MY IDEAL LEADER

A leader is someone who gives people a sense of purpose and inspiration. A

person who has a vision and knows how to get there. And someone who provides
their team with the resources and encouragement they need to succeed. These are
some of the denotative meanings of being a leader. These are also ideal values that
represent what a leader is. Personally, I too have leadership values that I always look
for from an individual. The values that window my perspectives of what is an ideal
leader. These values are called the 3Rs, Reliable, Resilient, and Respectful.

RELIABLE
A reliable leader is a person who’s trustworthy. Trust is always anchored to
leadership as an important factor to consider in building bridges among the
members. A reliable leader makes an effort to build rapport with people. He always
offers encouragement and is eager to go the extra mile to support others in his
capabilities. A core of support and service lies at the center of a trusted leader. Thus,
he pays close attention while keeping an open heart and mind.

RESILIENT
Challenges and roadblocks are always parts of the recipe of life that happen
across walks of life. Being a resilient leader means acknowledging this idealism.
Seeing that everyday is not always a ray of sunshine but can also be cloudy or even
worse a storm. A resilient leader has the ability to sustain their energy level under
pressure, cope with disruptive shifts and fit in. He bounces back from setbacks and
also overcomes major obstacles without engaging in violent behavior or hurting
others.

RESPECTFUL
One of the key ingredients of being a good leader is the ability to resonate with
respect. A good leader believes that everyone has worth and something to offer. He
values others' ideas and works and respects them. Nobody will follow someone who
only cares about himself since they know they will always take the credit for
themselves. As the saying goes, respect begets respect. And taking the lead is not a
one-way process but creating channels to connect with everyone. Being a respectful
leader is a way to bridge gaps and factions with others.

3Rs which stand for Reliable, Resilient, and Respectful are the values that I
am looking into as an ideal leader. Though I believe that somehow there are moments
when these will be constantly practiced, the most important thing is the leader will
always be grounded with his “WHYS”, the reasons that make him do selfless service
and go above and beyond for himself and others.
