1. These are only few of the many quotations about leaderships.  What quotation
struck you the most? Or if you have other quotation on leadership other than these,
what is it? Why?

Leadership is defined as the

act by which a person
influences others to accomplish an objective and directs the organization in a way that makes
it more coherent and cohesive.” One who strives to be a good leader has to be honest,
inspiring, intelligent, and stand firm for what he believes, not backing down. A great leader
inspires confidence in other people and moves them to action.

As expressed in the quotation, leadership is more than a title or the capacity to wield
power; it is a commitment and the ability to influence others. This influence inspires others to
work toward a common goal. A strong leader understands how and when to preach and do
what he preaches. Anyone may call themselves a leader, but only few are deserving of the
title. The fact in our society today is that leaders have abused their positions, dominating and
governing everyone according to their own desires, which impacts negatively on leadership.

Leadership entails the ability to transform people's lives and influence others to do the
same. It’s a domino effect of responsibility and service. Leadership is a core value that
emerges from the heart and manifests itself via our actions. It should be reflected through
deeds. Without the capacity to transform visions into actions, leadership is worthless.
Leadership is not a one-man show; it is a collaborative effort to solve issues and achieve
objectives. Willingness to serve and be a servant are qualities of a good leader.

2. Describe yourself as a leader.

If I had to choose between being a leader and being a follower, I would choose the
latter. To be honest, I'm having doubts about my ability to lead and lead people. I believe
I am unable of fulfilling the duties and responsibilities outlined in the title. I'm scared of
failure since I didn't live up to everyone's expectations. As a result, I prefer to be a
follower rather than a leader since I feel more at ease following orders. However, if I am
given the opportunity to lead, I will most likely fulfill my responsibilities to the best of
my ability. I also believe that failing sometimes provides us with valuable experience and
motivates us to improve.

3.   For you, what are the qualities of a good leader?

LEADER

Servant leaders are willing to "walk the talk" when it comes to serving
others. It entails putting ideas into action. Being a leader requires serving others.
It's not just about power or position; it's about making the commitment to
complete the work on your own and with your team. "Practice what you
preach," as the saying goes, and you can't expect someone to do their job if their
leader isn't capable of doing it himself. A leader must be a role model for his
followers and a good listener.

2. Think of someone who you think is a Servant Leader?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He exemplifies what it means to be a servant leader.
He is a leader and a servant. His leadership is for the greater good of humanity, not for self-
ambition. He knows how to listen. Jesus was not self-promoting (Mark 1:11). He cast a
vision with clarity, simplicity, and directness (Mark 1:15). He was obedient to the Holy Spirit
(Mark 1:12-13). He expressed control and authority as a leader when needed (Mark 1:23-25).
He was all about empowering others (Mark 1:40-45).

3.  What qualities made this leader effective?

Jesus isn't a perfect leader, and he won't select perfect disciples either.
However, he embraced all of his followers' flaws and weaknesses, which I
believe made him a good leader. He demonstrated to them that they can serve
others despite their imperfections. Jesus spent a great deal of his valuable time
and attention on the growth of his followers, who were to become the early
Christian community's leadership core. He is an excellent leader who seeks to
transform his followers into leaders because he foresees what is in waiting for
him when the time comes.

4. What is the distinction of Vincentian service? Why is it very important?

Vincentian service is based on a vision of faith characterized by the spirit of gospel

and carried out in collaboration with other people.

Vincentian service is important because it brings people together to work toward a mutual
vision while promoting co-responsibility and mutual respect. This service aspires to offer a
voice for those who are unable to speak for themselves.

5. As a leader, do you agree that practicing or living out integral service leads you to be
effective in your work place? Why/why not?

Yes.

Integral service was something I practiced or lived out at work, and it helped me
function more effectively and efficiently. It fosters commitment, self-improvement,
transparency, and motivation. Integral service also promotes respect for others' opinions and
a willingness to speak up for what is right.

.
I have heard so many definitions of leadership that are very unique from one another. If you
Google “leadership,” most of the definitions include a part on guiding people in the right
direction. We have been told growing up that the leaders in our life are our world leaders,
principals, our parents, etc. They represent people we have always looked up to. When asked
about the leaders in our lives, who do we say? Do we say those people I mentioned above?
More importantly, why do we say these  people? The qualities these leaders in our lives
possess are what defines our perspectives on leadership.

Typically the reason we think these people in our lives are “good leaders” is because of their
ability to motivate a positive change in our lives. We want to have our actions reflect what
those leaders normally do. Leaders bring out a positive change in someone, rather than
manage what they do. It is important, when thinking of the people in our lives, to point out
the influences that have brought out in your life. We want to surround ourselves with leaders
who promote a positive good on us. In terms of the definition of leadership, a component to
keep in mind is the positive influence they have made in your life and how that has impacted
who you are today.

Another factor surrounding the “good leaders” in our lives goes to terms with the qualities
they possess that you believe makes them a good leader.  There have been numerous of
studies done and approaches tested to set up a guideline for what is believed to make a good
leader, but it all comes down to your own opinion. When asking my family what they believe
are the qualities of a good leader, the words honest, supportive, patient, and loyal came up.
When I’m asked this question, I would have some similar words, but also some would be
different. Everyone has their own perceptions of leadership, which is why I believe you can’t
necessarily define leadership. There are dictionary definitions of leadership out there, but the
definition of leadership comes from your own perception.

How would I define leadership? I would define leadership as your own perspective of a good
leader. To me, this would be someone who strong, supportive, and also compassionate. It is
someone who puts themselves in the help of others to be a guide along the way. My
definition of leadership can be much different than my friend’s or my sister’s, but the most
important thing is that each perspective presents different qualities that possess a good leader.
Leadership is from your own perspective but is overall someone who possess unique qualities
that motivate us to make a positive change in our lives.

From my own perspective, leadership is someone who possesses special
attributes that encourage us to create a good difference in our lives and the lives

is to become the best version of ourselves. Above all, be genuine. In many
ways, God created us to be one-of-a-kind. Be pleased with yourself. Don't try to
outdo each other. Compete against yourself.
