FINAL TASK IN READINGS IN PHILIPPINES HISTORY

The following are some of the subjective questions from the previous chapter/topic
presentations. choose only ten (10) questions to answer.

1. Why was Pigafettas journal not published?

- During the expedition, Pigafetta served as Magellan's assistant and kept an

accurate journal, which later assisted him in translating the Cebuano
language. His diaries were not published because the controversy erupted
when Augustinian scholar Carlo Amoretti sought to interpret the
documents. However, the translations were inaccurate since much
information was lost in translation. Another issue was that Amoretti
translated it into several other languages, which disseminated mistakes
over time.

2. What was the socio-political context when the Kartilya was written? How crucial
was this document in the 19th century Philippines?

- The Kartilya was the moral and scholarly establishment used to direct the
activities of Katipuneros. Fundamentally having an impact on the manner
in which individuals thought and acted was central to the early
Katipuneros; they comprehend that was the best way to improve the
Philippines genuinely. Play-going about as and certainly referring to the
Katipunan without completely understanding their political and moral
setting and objectives basically debases the expansiveness of what they
were attempting to accomplish. On the other hand, we generally fail to
remember that the Katipunan, upon commencement and in real life, was
not the mass development it is usually mooted as, however one of the
working class, even the upper working class. The genuine illustrations of
the Revolution, the difficult work of reformism, the need to characterize
strategically and philosophically ultimate objectives, the vital earnestness
of training and teaching more extensive qualities, is overlooked for the
Adoration of Revolt, the Cult of the Revolutionary, the Primacy of
Personality. The disgrace is they perceive that enduring change happens in
the hearts and brains of men first, and what they consequently work later.
Not in that frame of mind of solidarity of arms, the could of the blade, and

the momentary idea of simply character based progressive activity.
Understanding setting makes sense of the hows and whys of
improvements on a neighborhood and public level. Figuring out the
significance of verifiable and contemporary setting, keeping up with that
degree of scholarly thoroughness, likewise takes into consideration
divergent plans to be held by people and associations.'Solidarity' does not
mean homogeneity in thought and conviction. That is dominion and elitism,
autocracy and tribalism, taking on the appearance of populism.

3. The Bill of Rights is a major article throughout the different constitutions of the
country. Why is it necessary?

- The Bill of Rights is necessary because it informs us about our individual

rights. The bill of rights allows us to freely express our thoughts. The
Philippines, like our country, is a democratic country, which means we are
free to express ourselves. Another advantage of this is that it aids us in the
legal procedure. So, if something happens that violates our rights, there
will be a law to assist us.

4. As a student, how will you embody the main teachings and guiding principles of
the Kartilya?

- As a student, it is my primary responsibility to guarantee that our

historians' historical research is accurate. The accumulating facts and
teachings serve as a wake-up call to respect and recognize the sacrifices
made to get the better life we now have "The tenth principle is the capacity
to manage the family. "A Katipunero is accountable for guiding his family in
the right path "I shall develop into a superb citizen will obey the law and
contribute to the pleasure of my family and future family"

5. Why did Andres Bonifacio declare the election results as null and void?

- In the Tejeros Convention, Andres Bonifacio declared the election results

null and invalid because he was insulted by Daniel Tirona's criticism of his
competence. To be honest, anyone in his position would have been angry
and wounded. Just because he didn't have a legal degree doesn't imply he
couldn't be Director of the Interior. Sometimes you have to be street smart
rather than academic clever. Also, he was the current Supremo of the
Katipunan at the time, so perhaps he felt humiliated since he was voted to
a very modest post in Aguinaldo's government.

6. Why is the constitution considered as “the highest expression of the law”?

- The Constitution is regarded as the highest expression of the law since it

was founded by the people in their original sovereign capacity to promote
their own happiness and to permanently preserve their rights, property,
independence, and common welfare. It is also the highest law of the land
because when state constitutions or laws issued by state legislatures or
the national Congress are determined to be in contradiction with the
federal Constitution, they are null and void.

7. Based on your understanding, do you agree with Bonifacio’s declaration as the

election is null and void?

- Based on my own understanding, I’m not agree with Bonifacio’s

declaration as the election is null and void. Bonifacio just said it because
he felt insulted and he demanded an apology from Tirona.

8. How would you describe Kartilya in terms of its form/ writing style and content?
What are its main teachings and how are they presented?

- Emilio Jacinto wrote the Kartilya ng Katipunan, which served as a guide for
members of the Kataas-taasang, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga
Anak ng Bayan (KKK), and spelled out the organization's laws and values.
The original title of "Kartilya ng Katipunan" was "Mga Aral ng Katipunan Ng
Mga Anak ng Bayan," and it is praised both then and now for its figurative
but precise description of the life principles that a Katipunero must follow.
Its opening statement, "A livelihood not spent for a great and holy purpose
is wood without shade but deadly vegetation," appears to be a creed about
service to the people and fellow humans. The "Kartilya ng Katipunan" will
take note of the moral and ethical guidelines that we desire.

9. What are the salient features of each agrarian reform system?

- The CARP encompassed both public and private agricultural lands

regardless of the crops planted, which was one of the most notable
features of each agrarian reform system. It also comprised agriculturally
acceptable public domain properties. It aimed to redistribute land not only
to farmers and farm laborers, but also to the landless poor in general.
