You have to interview one (1) store/business and try to find an answer on the following aspects:

1. Name of the business

3. Brief History of the business

The business was created to supplement the income that the family
received. Mr. Armando Singson used to be an overseas Filipino contract worker in Saudi
Arabia. He manages the business when he would take his vacation in the Philippines and
was something to keep himself busy while in the Philippines. When he is not in the
Philippines, it is his wife, Mrs. Maralene Singson who manages the business. Now, he no
longer works in Saudi Arabia. His wife works as a seamstress in a factory in Paliparan.
He manages the store on a full-time basis now.

4. What made them decide to legalize their business?

They legalize their business because they want to comply with the
government’s requirements, do not want to have a headache with the barangay officials
when they visit the business, and eventually have peace of mind.

5. What are the documents needed in legalizing a business?

1. Community Tax Certificate or Cedula


2. Barangay Clearance
3. Police clearance
4. Identification Number for Tax Purposes

6. How does the legality of business help them to market their business?

Legalizing the business makes it easy for them to market the business.
They do not need to worry that barangay officials might close their business when they
visit the store. They can easily provide or show them the permit to operate.

7. Benefits of legalizing the business

a. On the business itself


A legalized business protects your standing as a trustworthy company.
It enables the marketing of the business anywhere.

b. On the part of the owner

It helps the owner avoid legal problems with the government and opens
chances to conduct business with large corporations. It also gives personal satisfaction and
growth.

c. On the part of the customers


It develops trust between employees, customers, and suppliers.

8. What are the struggles in relation to competition and political pressure?

The owner did not have struggles regarding their competition. They do not
worry because people would go and buy from the store they know and very near to their
houses. The prices of their products are a lot cheaper than the other stores if not almost at
par with the prices of their competitors.

9. What advice can you give to those who are planning to put up their own business?

The advice he wants to give those who are planning to put up their business
is to persevere. Keep going and be focused on it. Be sure to replenish the items that are
not in stock anymore so you can already give what the customers want.
