A Detailed Lesson Plan

I. Objective:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to do the following with at
least 75% proficiency.

1. Determine the number of protons, neutrons and electrons in a particular

atom. (MELC Week 5-6 S8MT-III6)
Subtask:
1.1 identify the electric charge of an atom and its subatomic particle:
KBI (Key Behavior Indicator): cooperation in performing the activity.

II. Subject Matter:

A. Topic: Atoms
B. Materials:
Power point, laptop
C. reference
Books, other learning Resources (LR)

III. Procedures:

TEACHERS ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIITY

A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
“Everybody, please stand up for (The student will stand and pray)
the prayer”.

“You may now take your seats” (The students will sit down)

2. Greetings
“Good Morning class” “Good morning”
“How are you doing?” “We’re doing fine Ma’am”

3. Checking of Attendance
“Nobody absents today”
“I’m glad to hear that. Who is
absent?”

“Very Good”.

4. Review
“Last time our topic was all about,
what?”
“I have some question for you to
answer as a sort of short recall”

Guide Question: “Atom”

A. What is referred as the smallest
particle of elements? “Proton, Electron, Neutron”
B. What are the three (3) subatomic
particle of atom? “Hydrogen, Helium”
C. Can you give me one example of
atom?

“Very Good, all of your answers are

correct”
(Student are doing what the teacher
5. Motivation
has told them)
“Class kindly get your ballpen and
cut a tiny piece of paper.” “Yes Ma’am”
“Are you ready?”

“Please rub the edge part of your

ballpen in your hair. Afterwards
bring it near to the piece of paper
on top of your armchair.”
“What have you observed?”

“Yes, because of the charges of

atom.”

B. Lesson Proper “Atom is a particle that consists of a

nucleus of protons and neutrons
“What is Atom?” surrounded by a cloud of electrons.”

“Okay, very good. Atom is a particle

that consists of a nucleus of protons
and neutrons surrounded by a cloud
“Ma’am?”
of electrons.”
“Atom is smallest unit into which
“Any other explanation of atom?” matter can be divided without the
release of electrically charged
particles.”

“Protons, electrons, neutrons”.

“Can you name the three subatomic

of particles of atom?”

“Okay very good, thank you”

“Atom consist of three fundamental

types of particles, protons, electrons
and neutrons.”

“Neutrons and protons have

approximately the same mass and in
contrast to this the mass of an
electrons is negligible. A proton
carries a positive charge, a neutron
has no charge and an electron is Hydrogen (H) and Neon (Ne)
negative charged.
“Give me the example of atom”
- Very Good!

C. Activity
Activity 1. Everything is a pile of (The student will do the activity)
atoms
Direction: look at the picture of an
apple below. Slice an apple into parts
And then slice the resulting halves
into many slices. Answer the
questions that follow. Write your
(the student will do the activity)
answers on a separate paper.
Activity2.
Directions: study the drawings and
answer the question below. Write
your answers on a separate paper. The size of an atom is extremely
small much smaller than our”
imagination.
D. Application
What is the size of an atom? (three types of particles and these are
protons, electrons and neutrons).
OK very good!
E. Generalization
What are subatomic particles and
their properties
Very good! “that’s correct”.

What have you learned from our lesson today?

IV. Evaluation
Answer the following questions.
1. Label the diagram by writing the term
the word bank. Write your answers
on a separate sheet of paper.
