Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 10

I. Objectives (MELCS)
 Explain how species diversity increases the probability of adaptation and
survival of organisms in changing environments.
 Explain the relationship between population growth and carrying capacity.
II. Content Standard and Performance Standard.
 The learners should able to demonstrate understanding of influence of
biodiversity on stability of ecosystem; and an ecosystem as being capable of
supporting a limited number of organisms.
III. Subject Matter
Topic: Biodiversity
Materials: Video, PowerPoint presentation
Procedures:
A. Preliminary
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Energizer
4. Review
a) What is food chain.?
b) What is Energy pyramid?
B. Lesson Proper
1. Unlocking Difficulties

 Present two different picture of environment

 They will tell if which area has high biodiversity, and which is low
biodiversity.?

2. I will present a video about biodiversity.

What can you say about the video?
3. Presentation

 Today we are going to learn about biodiversity. How species diversity

increases the probability of adaptation and survival of organisms in changing
environments.
4. Discussion

 The teacher will show PowerPoint of her topic.

 The teacher will explain what biodiversity is.
 The teacher will present different picture of ecosystem.
 The teacher will explain value of species into different categories. (Direct
economic value, indirect economic value and aesthetic economic value).
 The teacher will explain how species diversity increases the probability of
adaptation and survival of organisms in changing environments.
 Shows examples and pictures.
 The teacher will explain the relationship between population growth and
carrying capacity.
5. Generalization
 What is biodiversity?
 What are the three categories in value of species?
 What is the relationship between population growth and carrying capacity?
IV. Evaluation
Write DEV if the value of species is direct economic value, IEV if indirect economic value
or AV if aesthetic value.
