LESSON PLAN: Introduction
1. LESSON OVERVIEW:
Level: 2
Length: 120 minutes
Language Focus: Key vocabulary and expressions for introducing yourself and discussing
typical ‘first meeting’ topics
Aims: To allow students to effectively understand and use common language for engaging in
typical ‘first meeting’ conversations

2. Procedure

1. Greetings ● Teacher greets the students
● The teacher gives his name to the students
and give some basic information about
himself
● Tell the class that today they are going to
get to know each other a little
● Make it clear that each student should turn
to the other students around them and
simply say their name (My name is …)

20 minutes
2. Warm-up ● Refer students to the photos in Exercise,
pointing out that Phước and Tuyền are
classmates having a conversation. Ask the
class to help you select the correct word
for the first gap.
● After they finish, tell them that they have
a short time (2–3 minutes to prepare) to
introduce themselves to the class.
● They should focus on their name. But
they can use the example with Phước and
Tuyền as a guide.Point out that, if asking
a classmate to spell their name

● Refer students to Exercise 2a. Before 30 mins


3. Reading students begin reading, point to the task at
the end of the conversation and read this
aloud. Then allow students to read the
conversation individually and to answer
the task.
● Then read aloud the five sentences below.
After each, allow students a moment to
decide whether to raise their hand or not.
1. Tuyền is from the south of Ha noi.
(False)
2. Phước works as a designer.
(False)
3. Tuyền works as a doctor. (True)
4. Phước studies in English. (True)
5. Tuyền likes Phước’s shirt. (False)
● Pointing to the four topics written on the
student material, tell students that they
will soon discuss these with their
classmates.
● Give an example of yourself. ( I’m Anh
Tuan, I’m from Ho Chi Minh City and it’s
very beautiful, the weather there is hot).
● Ask the students to work in pairs to
ensure they have understood each activity
correctly
● Once they have finished, provide
feedback on any words or ideas which
seem to cause confusion.

4. Speaking introduce themself using the 4 topics from
this lesson:
1. Topic 1: Country or city
2. Topic 2: Job or studies
3. Topic 3: Reasons for studying English
4. Topic 4: Nice comments
● Teacher summarizes the main contents of 5 mins
5. Wrap-up the lesson
● Teacher asks if students have any
questions
