Subject: RE: Pavement and Traffic Report

Dear Sir,

The traffic report received in trail was reviewed and certain observations which we thought need to be looked at are as
follows –

SN. Survey Location Total Traffic

1 96+250 TMC-1 Kasegaon Jn 3718
2 81+000 TVC-1 Farnewadi 1741
3 70+000 Hutatma Chowk TMC-2 4393
4 65+000 TVC-2 Walwa Tasgaon Rd 6181

1. Hugh variations in traffic counts are observed at proposed survey locations, which is difficult to interpret for
indication of any traffic pattern followed at these locations. Is there any particular reason for the hike / reduction
in the traffic counts? Please mention in the report in case of any induced / leakage experienced along the corridor.

2. Also, kindly clarify if the entire project corridor is considered as a homogenous section or whether the corridor
needs to be split into homogenous sections for sake of interpretation.

3. Total traffic in TVC-1 is lesser than traffic counted at TVC-2 and TMC-2. Kindly clarify the reason for this
decrease in count at TVC-1.

4. Recommended Traffic Growth Rate (in %) for car is not adopted, rather 5% growth rate has been considered,
which should be revised to actual growth rates calculated for the respective mode.

5. Traffic projection was done only for one location, location is also not mentioned in report, kindly indicate the
rationale applied for doing this?

6. Vehicle counts in base year do not match with both TVC-1 & 2 for the traffic capacity table. Kindly update.

7. The traffic capacity worked at the end of the report is calculated to be 3700 PCU at end of 30 years’ service life,
which is very little and does not seem to justify the viability of project corridor. Is this the case also projected in
the DPR document?

8. The report appears to be incomplete as it does not provide any conclusions or proposals based on the findings.
Please add a “Conclusion” paragraph at the end of the report.

9. MSA Calculations are missing in this report required further for Pavement Design. Please add this in the report.

We can discuss the above comments on call, if needed, on Monday. The concerned team member can contact Suyog at
HO in case of any technical discussion or else I will be available in Pune RO if needed.

Thanks and kind regards,
