BENEFITS OF STUDY GROUPS

Nowadays, there are many kinds of PD activities such as peer coaching, class
observation, mentoring, conferences , learning online courses and so on. As far as
I’m concerned, learning in study groups brings us many benefits. Therefore, at
school or at university, students enjoy the benefits of study groups more and more.

First of all, it is faster. It is no doubt that when working together, students

in study groups can generally learn faster than students working alone. For
example, When you have confusing questions round the textbook, instead of
spending a lot of time thinking alone, students in a study group can quickly share
ideas together and find the answer. In addition, you can also help your fellow
students when they have difficulties understanding something that you do
understand.

Secondly, students can get new perspectives.Actually, If you study by yourself,

you will always see your material from the same perspective. When you work
together, you can see many different opinions from the point of view of other
students in the group.

Last but not least, study groups provide an excellent chance to fill in gaps in your
understanding. Members in a group can share tips about how they take notes which
everyone can try out.

In conclusion, you should join a study group to gain many benefits in learning.
However, before joining a group, you should choose a group that spends its
time studying and not just socializing.
