Sample Writing Ielts Task2:

Over time, the betterments of living standards of citizens worldwide have explained the mass car
ownership. In fact, there is no difficulty in finding a car in every corner of the world as the total
number is shortly approaching 1.5 billion. Cities, especially metropolises are observed to suffer from
the phenomenon of escalating congestion. Though one can doubt the convenience cars yield, there
is much that can be used to avoid redundant car use.

Obviously, the volume of individual car users tends to significantly be diminished where public
transports are heavily invested. So convenient and dependable may the subway networks be that
commuters in dense cities like Tokyo, for instance, would enjoy themselves without having to
depend on cars. Meanwhile, dwellers in cities where such networks have been allowed to
deteriorate, are likely to find individual vehicles more comfortable.

Another potential solution, on the authority scale, is to issue disciplines or make it extravagant for
car ownership and usage to eliminate lavish applications. Evidences suggest that countries where
high tax for car purchasers is administered are less vulnerable to severe traffic-related problems.
Furthermore, road pricing schemes should also be applied to certain means of car use, such as short
journeys by car within densely populated cities are, in no case, be encouraged.

An alternative strategy would be to promote a network of cycle or walk lanes along with other
facilities. A case in point is Holland, whose authorities strive to provide safe weatherproof zones for
cyclists to park their bicycles. This can yield distinct merits for not only proving eco-friendly and less
expensive than other options, but also serving as a manner of citizens’ getting lean whilst being able
to flexibly and autonomously travel.

In short, the changes in traffic congestion harvested from the aforementioned may be ambiguous.
No one can deny the fact that car ownership is projected to exponentially soar. Nonetheless,
something better than nothing. The governments and the citizens worldwide should be jointly
responsible for making a jam-free world.
