Not having such a sewage and drainage system in school may cause minor
flooding in the school field. One of the fundamental purposes of any drainage
system is flood protection, which continues to be a significant problem in many
communities due to its negative effects on the economy and public health.
Flooding from heavy rain has been extensively studied, and protection levels can
be predicted and increased using simulation software that is already available.
Yet, because there are so many different operational flaws or careless behavior-
related reasons, replicating modest flooding is still quite difficult (F. Cherqui et
al., 2015).
Disruptive mud is one of the major issues with schools lacking sewage and
drainage systems since it stresses out both pupils and staff. Drainage is the act,
process, or mode of draining (Webster, 2018). Drainage generally defined as
technical action to reduce the excess of water from rainwater, seepage, or
irrigation excess from certain region/land, as of land function is not affected.
(Suripin, 2004).
Without a proper water outflow, excessive rains could damage the landscape's
formation. Interaction between natural water cycle and human activity is the
reason why drainage systems are needed in developed urban area (Butler and
Davies, 2004). Butler and Davis’ study also stated this interaction has two main
forms: the abstraction of water from the natural cycle to provide a water supply
for human life, and covering of land with impermeable surfaces that divert
rainwater away from the local natural system of drainage.
Drainage and sewage system is notable in collecting and removing waste water
like rain. The uneven surface of our school causes the rainwater not to flow
which will eventually cause mud and make the surface even bumpy. Lack in
proper drainage system makes the water stagnant which leads us to the idea of
conducting a research regarding this issue. We are going to design a drainage
system inside the school campus to lessen the aforementioned issues and
achieve an even surface that is perfectly adequate for vehicle to use and make
this school convenient for teachers and learners.
4. The following interventions are done to solve the problem and the outcomes were:
The interventions to solve the existence of waste water in school fields that could
cause mud may include the building a proper sewage and drainage system
around school campus. The upkeep of proper sanitation and the convenience of
students and staff during and after moderate to heavy rainfall could be the
outcome of this intervention. A drainage system provides the benefits of drainage
that keep water from flowing and creating a sludge.
5. The following fact/findings have been reported in the related studies about the problem:
There are a number of reasons why the sewer system is important to the
community. First and foremost, it is necessary for people's health. Water will
stagnate if there is no proper drainage system, and the stagnant water will
become a breeding ground for harmful insects. Second, it is necessary for
effective flood control and the proper discharge of wastewater, rainwater, and
runoffs. Thirdly, an effective sewerage system improves the environment's
aesthetics (D. Baldonado, 1998).
