CONCLUSIONS
CHAPTER ONE

1.1 INTRODUCTION

Industrial training exercise is a time-framed course that brings into

applying the knowledge acquired in the classroom. Though the benefit

and importance of theoretical knowledge in any field of study is very

useful but practical and experience cannot be jettison. It is as a result

that the student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) was

instituted.

It was established in1971 to solve the problems of inadequate

practical skills and to prepare students for employment in industries and

also to assist the industrial training fund enabling decree No. 47 of 8 th

October, 1971 which aims at transforming the economy of the nation

from its total dependence on foreign expertise to a state of self-reliance,

through the training and development of Nigerians that would be

competent to perform the specialized skills required to manage essential

sectors of the national economy.
