IEffective: Supply Chain Rebalancing in Solution to Dire Times is an event organized by

PIIE – MCL Chapter wherein they invited Engr. Carmina Velasco as their guest Speaker. Engr.

Carmina Velasco is a well-qualified in discussing the said topic and share to us her experience in

the industry, Supply Chain, since she graduated with an Industrial Engineering degree and passed

the Certification Program in Enterprise Supply Chain Management wherein as of now, she

currently works for almost two years as Inventory Supervisor, handling the controls of warehouse

and distribution centers nationwide, in 2GO - Distribution, Scan Asia Overseas Inc.

2GO Group, Inc. operates as a logistics service provider in the Philippines. It operates

vessels, motorboats and watercrafts, aircrafts, and trucks, and acts as an agent for local and foreign

shipping corporations for freight and passenger transportation by air, land, and sea.

Supply Chain Managament is not only "the value chain". A value chain is a sequential

process in which actors transform raw materials into value-added products. For example, sugar

beets are needed to manufacture sugar in a value chain, but the supply chain for sugar is far more

involved. Supply chain management is a multidimensional arena in which both linked, and

seemingly unrelated entities impact the flows of 1) goods and services, 2) financial transactions,

3) information, and 4) other elements such as risk and innovation.

IE-commerce: Industrial Engineers as Good Business Service Providers is an event also

organized by PIIE – MCL Chapter wherein they invited Mr. Marco Raphael Almarinez as their

guest Speaker. Wherein you can learn a lot of thing from him as an Industrial Engineering graduate

who has an experience in a ecommerce field internationally.

Ecommerce is a business model were buyers and sellers exchange goods and services with

consumer via internet. Wherein one of the examples are B2B, B2C, C2C and C2B. While E-

Business is a broader definition of Ecommerce that includes not just the buying and selling of

goods and services, but also servicing customer, collaborating with business partners and

conducting electronic transactions within an organization.

Wherein in this event you will also learned the things you need to consider when you

pursued the same career like the maintaining or improving the quality of your products and its

shipment from the business to the customer.

He also discussed the different advantage and disadvantage of using ecommerce in a

business like wherein one of the advantages of using it is that you can provide global reach with

your customer by removing the barrier of place. In this way, the seller and buyers can now meet

virtually with the hindrance of location. But, it also possess disadvantage wherein it carry a

potential risk as said by the speaker since it involves internet and the customers or the seller data.

And lastly, just like the previous seminar, it ended with the question-and-answer portion

wherein I learned a lot from the speaker and also to the other attendees.
