Kim, a Korean boy, hid in bushes after escaping from a cruel soldier who took his parents prisoner. Hungry and frightened, he peeked through the bushes and saw a vegetable garden not far away, thinking he might be able to find food there. The document appears to be a reading assessment for a student, noting their reading speed, number of words correctly and incorrectly read on a 110-word passage, checked and remarked on by a teacher.

Story Number 2 Paragraph 1-2
“Why Kim Rode the Bicycle”
Kim crept deeper into the bushes beside the road. He had been hiding since early morning, and he was hungry. He was frightened, too. The cruel soldier had been through the small Korean village where Kim and lived had taken his father and mother prisoners. Kim had gotten away before the soldier saw him and had run and run until he come to the bushes. There he did, but he knew he couldn’t stay there much longer. He must look for food. But where? Quietly, Kim pushed aside the bushes and peeked out. Not far away he saw a big vegetables garden. Maybe I can find something there, he thought.
