Introduction :
Since 2017, the Work Immersion Program for senior high school students has been
implemented by the Filipino Government’s Department of Education (DepEd) and supported by
The Asia Foundation’s Coalitions for Change (CFC). Ms. Alysha Brahmantiara Putri (2021)
Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A Senior High
School student has to undergo Work Immersion in an industry that directly relates to the
student's postsecondary goal. These prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of
employment or higher education after graduation.
Work immersion requires all Senior High School students from DepEd public schools,
private schools, state colleges and universities, local colleges and universities, and Technical-
Vocational institutions to have 80 hours of exposure to workplace related to their chosen
track. It enables the Senior High school Students ( SHS ) to attain hands-on experience through
work simulation. This lets them apply their knowledge and capabilities relevant to their chosen
track. ( Maria Carmen B. Mallari )
