Word Clouding
Word clouding is a visual representation of textual data. Tags are usually single words, and
the importance of each tag is shown with font size or color. This format is useful for
quickly perceiving the most prominent terms to determine its relative prominence. The
bigger tag means greater weight and frequency of appearance. 
Word clouding can be a teaching strategy for different learning styles. It is a fun way to
visualize brainstorming and student opinions.
Word clouds can be more than static images you prepare ahead of class. They can be
dynamic, dancing pictures where words capture students’ ideas and emotions live at the
moment. Word clouds are one of the many active learning strategies that teachers can
implement to engage visual learners. Your students develop essential skills when they
create word clouds. For example, transforming a word association list into a word cloud:
● increases vocabulary
● forms connections between concepts
● generates new ideas or solidifies existing ideas
● promotes creativity
● engages and motivates students

Assignment
The larger the word in the visual, the more commonly seen it was in the document(s). In
this assignment, you are required to create a word cloud based on one selected subject of
your own choice. There are a variety of tools that you can use to create a word cloud.

Take a screenshot of the homepage for the tool’s website, paste it in a Google
Doc, list the tools you used, discuss your creation of word cloud and explain
why you chose this tool among the various tools.

Requirements
The tool you select must be free for you and your students to use. The word cloud you
designed with the tool must be:
● Depict words in different sizes/colors/fonts according to the frequencies.

● Allow viewers to quickly understand a large amount of data without counting or
going over notes.
● Allow the learners to quickly catch up with the main point of the learning content.
