Please answer the following questions:
1. What are the basic parts of a computer? Explain their functions?

*The basic parts of a computer are the motherboard is the spine of


your PC, it is the link between all the different components inside your
computer. One of the major functions of a motherboard is to act as the
“hub” to which other computer devices connect. A board can come in many
formations to fit different needs, budgets and speeds, Central Processing
Unit (CPU) PU performs all types of data processing operations. It stores
data, intermediate results, and instructions (program). It controls the
operation of all parts of the computer, graphics processing unit (GPU) is
a specialized, electronic circuit designed to rapidly manipulate and alter
memory to accelerate the creation of images in a frame buffer intended for
output to a display device. GPUs are used in embedded systems, mobile
phones, personal computers, workstations, and game consoles. (GPU),
random access memory (RAM) vital part of every computer system,
random access memory (RAM) provides short term storage space for data
and program code. Random access memory, RAM, provides short
term storage space for data and program code that a
computer processor is in the act of using, or which it expects to use
imminently, and Storage is a mechanism that enables a computer to retain
data, either temporarily or permanently. Storage devices such as flash
drives and hard disks are a fundamental component of most digital devices
since they allow users to preserve all kinds of information such as videos,
documents, pictures and raw data.

2. What is an input device? Give an example (10pts)


*The input device is a piece of equipment used to provide data and
control signals to an information processing system such as a computer or
information appliance. The examples of input devices include keyboards,
mouse, scanners, (digital camera), joysticks, and microphones.

3. What is an output device? Give an example (10pts)


*An output device is any piece of computer hardware
equipment which converts information into human-readable form. The
example of output device are text, graphics, tactile, audio, and video.
