CHAPTER FOUR

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

The gathered data are hereby presented and analyzed. The data were gathered

through the instruments and are presented in an organized manner following the order in

the statement of the problem found in Chapter One.

The survey that researchers conducted is about the effect of parent’s expectations to

students. The survey was conducted by the researchers using internet in a survey form. The

questions what is the academic performance of students who are studying with pressure from

other people? Is there any effect? The survey that we conducted collected many answers to our

questions. 18 out 20 students from Pines City National High School agreed that expectations of

their parents affects their lives, not only in school but their personal life.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of the study from the gathered data, the

Conclusions drawn from the findings, and the recommendations offered by the

Researchers in light of the findings and conclusions.

3.7 Summary of Findings

Based on the gathered data, the researchers came up with the following findings:

• Out of the 20 students that were questioned, 18 students agree to the claim that parents

expectations affects the academic performance of students.

3.8 Conclusions and Implications

Based on the findings of the study, the researchers drew the following conclusions:

• The students that were given high expectations by their parents have a higher academic

performance/grades compared to the students that were given much lower expectations.

• The 2 variables from the computation using Correlational Method shows that there is a

significant relationship between the parents’ expectations and the students’ academic

performance in.

• The parents who give expectation(s) to the students create a self-fulfilling prophecy in

which affects the performance of the students.

3.9 Recommendations

In light of the summary of findings and conclusions, the researchers offer the following

recommendations:

• For students, they should be aware to the expectations given by the parents.

• For parents, they are recommended to have a high positive expectation that can motivate

their children.

• For the school administration, they should be engaged in a collaborative support and

sharing awareness to parents in giving expectations to students.

• For researchers, they may use this study as a useful guide or reference for their research.

This study has not yet been a hundred percent proven and accurate, thus, it allows or

invites a further research and analysis.
