TITLE: THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF TOURISM

Tourism is a type of industry that relies on the willingness or need for

individuals and organizations to visit or move to a certain area. It can often

be very beneficial, but it can also have drawbacks. For example, Tourism

creates jobs in an area and helps the economy grow. It can also lead to

problems such as overcrowding, crime and even pollution. The risks of

tourism have led many people to take an anti-tourist position while some

people are pro-tourist in their ideology.

Tourism is viewed as a profitable industry by nations all over the world.

Third country nations are benefiting from the tourism industry's ability to

readily produce riches. This factor is particularly significant for countries

where tourism is the primary sector. Third-world nations with subpar

infrastructure benefit financially from tourism. The better a nation's internal

growth, the more tourists it will draw and the better off the nation will be. Many

nations rely heavily on tourism as a source of income. Tourism-related

massive influxes of tourists open up new business options for the locals.

Demand for hotels, bars, restaurants, and entertainment is a direct outcome

of tourism. In many countries, it also contributes significantly to the creation of

jobs for the local economy. Tourism surely has its own unique charm due to

its ability to unitepeople of diverse backgrounds, races, and cultural traditions

as well as the understanding it generates, which supports long-lasting

economic, political, and social partnerships. (Mason, 1995). In actuality,

tourism is the main source of income for many beautiful nations and

contributes to economic growth. Tourism can come with a cost, though. A

country may suffer from the tourism industry's impact in many different ways.
Thus, a clear distinction must be made between greeting visitors and the

turmoil they cause.

Next, tourism give some harmful effects of tourism are long-lasting. It is

because tourists harm the ecosystem when they travel to well-known

locations. Tourism raises the number of flights and miles driven by cars, which

increases carbon monoxide emissions inside a nation. Travelers may not

respect and honour local customs as a result of their presence. Tourists

frequently tease locals for breaking the taboo of sobriety in public. The verbal

or unspoken code that the locals hold in high regard will be broken as a result

of this. When visitors appear to love a certain popular lifestyle or tradition,

commercialization of culture has taken place. As a result of the locals'

traditions being sold to visitors for entertainment, their culture has been

exploited. Ocean health may be harmed by tourism. For instance, the

thousands of visitors that go boating and snorkeling each year have damaged

coral bays. The threat from waste, which was already stated, as well as the

opulent development of undeveloped coasts raise concerns for the ocean's

future. (Holden, 2000). In conclusion, the future of the ocean is in jeopardy

due to the threat posed by garbage and the lavish development of

undeveloped coasts. Due to their presence, tourists might not respect and

honour local customs. When people visit well-known areas, it hurts the

ecosystem.

In additional, through tourism, hosts and guests can interact with other

ethnic groups and share cultures. There are many benefits to tourism

because of its ability to unite people of different colours, backgrounds and

traditions. Besides that, respectful conversations can help both parties have
a broader perspective on the world. By putting the money made back into the

nation, tourism and its attractions can expand, starting a beneficial cycle for

the nation. Therefore, being a good tourist is an important first step in being a

respectful traveller, it is important to understand and respect the culture and

people of the country. The success of many economies throughout the world

depends on tourism, understanding created from tourism promotes constant

economic, political, and social relationships with other country. (Ingram,

2020).

On other hand, the negative effects of tourism may significantly

outweigh the positive ones in a nation given the way the sector is currently

managed. Environmental harm should be considered as the first factor. When

there is an excess of human interaction, flora and Wildlife can decline in some

areas or alter their growth and migration habits. Many nations that have

historical sites or natural attractions run the risk of being destroyed. In

addition, the number of people inhabiting an area significantly rises when a

nation has a high level of tourist appeal. Besides that, of how using a car and

flying affects the environment of the nation, carbon monoxide emissions may

rise. (Ingram, 2020)

In summary, the most important are being a respectful tourist is to be

a responsible tourist, Understanding and respecting the local culture and the

people in both large and small. Environmental awareness is very important for

the survival of a nation. Good environment that gives people a chance to live

healthy lives. In order to promote economic growth, a healthy population is

necessary.

The experience acquired opens our minds to a plethora of new ideas,

diversifies concepts, and provides us with the power to be preferred above

many other individuals most of the time. The experience broadens your

horizons, sharpens your thinking, and gives you strength since you will always

be more loved than others. Chatting with those folks and witnessing their way

of life is essential since you will see how they go about their everyday lives.

Meeting new people provides you with the confidence and encouragement to

lead that you have always desired. Meeting new people will also increase your

communication abilities, which will improve your personality in nearly every

manner. Additionally, it may broaden your experiences and make you a more

compelling speaker (Warrior, 2020). In conclusion, by travelling at the same

time, we may study and comprehend different sorts of languages throughout

the world while also learning about the culture of a country or state.

Language is required for all forms of communication, including sign

language and Braille, which allow persons with speech impairments to

communicate. Learning a few words in another language might be

intimidating. If language limitations are an issue but you still want to visit

another country, consider joining a tour group. While wearing money belts,

keeping valuables in hotel safes, and avoiding high-crime areas will help

prevent most travel- related crimes, safety remains a big concern. Tourists

must locate safe housing and learn how to avoid pickpockets and scams.

Thousands, if not millions, of kilometres away from home, and no one knows

what will happen in the next second (Warrior, 2020).

The conclusion is travel, whether it's to a nearby or distant location, will

provide us with an experience that we won't obtain anyplace else in our lives.

While there are various benefits to travelling, it is also necessary to weigh the
drawbacks. When planning a vacation, bear in mind that you should be

prepared to defend yourself from any hazards or threats that may come at any

time or in any location.

Apart from that, traveler is insanely addictive to individuals and

groups. Many people see beautiful things while traveling but they forget about

the negative effects of tourism if they cannot control it. This addiction will

change a person's way of life from the normal life of a person who works. It

interferes with the work process of an individual if he often travels. This effect

will not only be felt by the individual but also by his employer. The insanely

addictive can also result in job career development can also be affected and

not develop if they can't adjust it. Chances of career advancement or

promotion will also be affected due to the frequency with which they travel.

Beside than that, the insanely addictive traveler can result in a lot of expenses

and varies according to the type of adventure thus also contribute to the risk

of being homeless in the countries they visit, possibly due to running out of

capital for travel (Newman, 2019).

Apart from that, the problem that often passes if they travel too long

is that they will feel lonely. This is a problem that often afflicts travelers is that

they will miss their homeland. They also have difficulty in returning to their

homeland due to their infatuation with traveling. The more often they travel,

the more they move away from their hometown and this causes them to stay

on their travels. Besides that, the long and more journey also forces them to

get large funds or capital to continue traveling or traveling even though

traveling is the dream of every human being to visit new places (Newman,

2019). As conclusion, Travel is indeed fun but many travelers are not aware
of the risks they will face if they become addicted in their adventure or travel.

Tourism, both internally and externally, offers the possibility of peace,

both on the inside and outside. No other industry can provide opportunities

as well as global travel and tourism can. Traveling, admiring beauty,

connecting with others, exploring, and contemplating the meaning of life are

deep-seated human needs. We, as humans, have an innate need to explore,

explore the meaning of our lives, connect with others through connections, and

reflect upon the meaning of our lives. Tourism can then be more than it was,

adapting and rebounding to become more responsible, more resilient, and

more beneficial for all. There may be a need to adapt to the new realities of

the industry and to travelers’ changing needs in order to find meaning and

purpose in the travel industry. Providing travelers with opportunities for

connection, peace, reflection, and respite from today's challenges. (Lusby,

2021). As conclusion, the tourism industry is fundamental to the well-being of

humans and can contribute to the wellbeing of our planet as well. As described

in this issue, tourism can create meaning

and well-being for people and planet in many ways. We can reimagine what

tourism can be by enhancing our sense of responsibility and caring for each

other and life, as well as embracing new technologies and innovations in

travel and tourism.

The impact of viruses has profoundly changed industries and lifestyles

around the globe, many industries have had to close, and people have

become frightened about traveling because of the impact of viruses. The virus

had a dramatic effect on the global economy, changing how life was done

around the world. Having been hit by the pandemic, international tourism was
suddenly halted, in addition to the danger it posed to international travel.

There is no doubt that the Pandemic has raised global awareness of the fact

that we are more interconnected than ever before. Through it, we have

become more aware of the fact that threats to mankindor the tourism industry,

whether they are felt locally or globally, affect everyone at some level. The

importance of our inner well-being cannot be overstated. In addition to eating

well, exercising, getting enough sleep, and healing old wounds, we also need

to take care of our physical well-being. (Lusby, 2021). As conclusion, there is

no doubt that traveling has many positive effects on your mind and health. In

addition to stress reduction, self-reinvention, and boosting happiness, it has

many other benefits to offer.

As a matter of fact, traveling can be considered to be an enjoyable

experience on many levels. In addition to inspiring us to explore other

countries, experience new cultures, eat different foods, and meet new people,

the experience evokes a sense of wanderlust where we are inspired to

experience other destinations. Despite how amazing traveling can be, most of

us think we need to wait until we're older to explore a lot of the world. A

destination's international visibility and standing can increase as a result of

tourism, which can lead to economic gains, jobs, investment, and

improvements in travel infrastructure.
