Background of the Study

Introduction

Waking up so early is one of the hardest thing to do

nowadays. A lot of students of Senior high school experiencing

tardiness in Parang high school. Students has different

perceptions in terms of what time they are going to wake up in

the morning, there's a lot of things they do before going to

school such as: taking bath, eating breakfast and fixing their

selves. Students sets an alarm so they can wake up early in the

morning, but still they do not wake up. Other students are far

from the school so they take a long ride in Public

transportations to come on time in school. Tardiness may

interrupt the entire class especially in the midst on an going

class. Many students missed information that had been discussed

at the beginning of the class. Therefore, the researchers wants

to know the Effects of Tardiness on Grade 11 GAS Students as

Perceived to their Academic Performance on Pagbasa at Pagsusuri

ng Iba't-ibang teksto tungo sa Pananaliksik.

A study conducted by Farrar (2010) states that not solely do

students lose valuable academic instruction once they arrive

late, however they disrupt the academic surroundings and distract

others who are in the class. Excessive student timing

incorporates a negative impact upon a student's future.

Tyre, Feurborn, Pierce (2011) analyzed that when many

students are tardy at the secondary level, teachers must

continually restart instruction or delay beginning instructional

periods throughout the school day.

This research aims to know the Effects of Tardiness on Grade

11 GAS students in accordance to their Academic performance, and

also knowingly commit awareness to students how school tardiness

has a negative effects on learning outcomes.

This study will use survey to gather informations from the

respondents which are the Grade 11 General Academic Strand

students in Parang High School. The survey will aims to determine

the Effects of Tardiness on Grade 11 GAS students as perceived to

to their Academic Performance on Pagbasa at Pagsusuri ng Iba't-

ibang teksto tungo sa Pananaliksik.

The importance of this research is to know the Effects of

Tardiness on Grade 11 GAS students as perceived to to their

Academic Performance. This study will show the Effects of

Tardiness on General Academic Strand students.

The results of the study will benefit to the following: The

Students, this study will benefit the students in the way of

giving awareness from the negative effects of tardiness. The

Teachers, the study will benefit the teachers in the way of being

informed why many students are being tardy on going to school.

The Future researchers, this study will benefit the future

researchers in the way of giving references from the study, and

make the future researchers more reliable from their research.

Statement of the Problem

is lowest.

Chapter 2
Review of Related Literature and Study

This chapter includes the review of related literature of

the study. This research cited books, journals and articles,

which are related to the investigation. It contains facts and

information on the research problem.

A study conducted by Farra (2010) states that not solely do

students lose valuable academic instruction once they arrive

late, however they disturb their academic surroundings and

distract others who are within the class. Excessive student

tardiness incorporates a negative impact upon a student's future.

Furthermore Feng, D. S, Lori, et al. (2003) states that a

contingency contracts program was implemented in this study to

determine the effects of contingency contracting on decreasing

student tardiness in high school classrooms. A study conducted by

Garriga (2012) states that developing up in a single-parent

family has a terrible effect on childrens academic level, whereas

the relationship between family shape and take a look at ranking

is less consistent or even nonexistent in some countries.

Similarly a study conducted by Amentel and Quijada (2011) states

that frequency of use by the UP cebu freshmen students of

facebook and a part of the study tackled about the effect of the
famous social networking site to up cebu students punctuality and

academic performance.

Caldarella, Christensen, Young, et al (2011) states that

Teachers and Principals think about student timing to be a heavy

drawback. Some have argued that timing could be a widespread

drawback with serious effects, significantly for younger students

World Health Organization should rely on their folks to urge them

to high school on time. Furthermore Rivard, J. (2013) states that

the results counsel that the intervention program had a positive

result on up student late rates and educational action. the

information analysis also prompt that absence wasn't considerably

reduced by the program and continues to be a complex problem for

this school as well as other schools. Also a study conducted by

Gottfried (2014) states that the coefficients on schoolroom

tardies indicated statistically vital relationships between

having a better daily average range of acquaintance tardies and

socio-emotional development. Students whose classmates are, on

average, late more frequently have higher frequencies of problem

behaviors and lower levels of social skills. Like wise Taylor

(2015) states that tardiness is not a new hassle in high school.

Tardy students create disruption to college subculture as well as

negatively, have an effect on their very own academics, teachers

and classmates. Attending faculty is essential for scholar

success and being on time as well. In addition Santillano (2010)

states that reasons for being late in class and other factors

affecting the punctuality if a student vary. There had been some

theories that pointed out that tardiness is caused by the

personality of a person. Like wise Fedewa and Ahn (2011) states

that examined the effects of physical activity and physical

fitness on childrends achievement and cognitive outcomes a meta-

analysis. It is common knowledge that physical activity leads to

numerous health and psychological benefit. Finally by Nakpodia

and Dafiaghor (2011) states that lateness can be defined as the

situation where an individual arrives after the proper scheduled

or usual time. In addition Laudy (2009) states that it is a term

used to describe people not showing up on time. Tardiness being

present and on time in going to school are big factors on the

success and behavior of the students. Likewise According to

Breeze, et al (2010) states that lateness is synonymous with

tardiness which implies being slow to act or slow to respond thus

not meeting up with proper or usual timing.

Feng, D. S, Lori, et al(2003) states that a possibility

contract program was actualized in this consider to decide the

impacts of possibility contracting on diminishing understudy

lateness in tall school classrooms. The members were 32 tall

school understudies of the 32 members, 16 were haphazardly doled

out to the exploratory bunch and the other 16 to the control

bunch. On the other hand Frising and Jill (2019) states that the

purpose of this study was once to determine whether pupil

absences and tardiness have a correlation to the occurrences of

student behaviors the pre-kindergarten school setting. Besides

that Barini and Iberamia (2012) states that generating and

representing knowledge about heuristics for repair based

scheduling is a key issue in any rescheduling strategy to deal

with unfarseen events and distribution.
