Tasks: Differentiate comparison from contrast.

Comparison and contrast not only differ in spelling but also in meaning. The word
comparison is defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as the act of comparing one thing,
person, place et cetera. Meanwhile, according to the same dictionary mentioned, the
word contrast is the act of comparing or appraising in respect to differences. The
definition of compare and contrast are similar but they are not the same. To explain
more clearly, let us say we have an apple and a tomato. Comparing them would be
noting that both the apple and the tomato are red and shiny. On the other hand,
contrasting would be noting that the seeds of the apple are black unlike the tomato’s
which are white. In short, comparison or comparing focuses on the similarities, while
contrast or contrasting focuses on the differences.
