Practice Sheet-6
(Revision)
Instructions:
• The marks are provided along with problem data in the (#) format. Total marks are 30.
• The template for the Answer-sheet is similar to the previous practice sessions.
• The contour graphs have to be submitted in the JPEG format with sufficient image resolution in the
answer-sheet.
• The answer-sheet file having name ‘Roll No_PS6’ in the DOCX format in MS team only.
• Activate ‘Turn-in’ status after uploading the assignment. Late activation of ‘Turn-in’ status as well
as late submission will not be entertained and will be subjected to deduction of 20% of the total
marks.
• Anyone found copying the answers will be subjected to deduction of 20% marks per question.
• The due time and date are provided in the announcement of the assignment.
• Do not message personally to the TAs to inquire whether the assignment is submitted or not.

1. ‘Dataset-1’ contains XY-coordinates and respective ‘Height’ variable as Z-coordinate (similar to

‘Practice sheet-5, problem-2). Plot the height contour over the entire area spanning -2 to 2 (unit) in
X-direction and -2 to 2 (unit) in Y-direction (1), major gridline spacing of 0.5 and 0.5 for all the
sides on X & Y axis (1), respectively; assign the titles to the axis (1), provide sufficient spacing
between axis title and labels (1), draw the continuous contours of ‘Heights’ in the ‘small rainbow’
colour scheme (1), add the legend with title and divided into the 10 parts between the maximum
and minimum heights (find min-max values yourself) (1), show 5 contour lines of equal heights
above its value of 150 units (1) (not for entire contour area) along with value labels (1) The final
contour plot should be without any distortion and the text should be clearly visible (1). All the
numerical values should be displayed with 2 decimals (1). [Total = (10)]
2. ‘Dataset-2’ is an image of a polar graph containing ‘Dataline 1-4’ having red, green, blue and
saffron colours, respectively. Extract the data using ‘WebPlotDigitizer’ and plot it using ‘Tec360’
polar-graph tool. The regenerated graph should have presence of XY- axes titles (1), all the data
lines (2), legend (1) and should not resemble the original graph in terms of colours (1). [Total =
(5)]
3. The figure given above depicts the mechanical dynamometer to measure the torque experienced by
the rotating turbine. Illustrate the setup which is similar to the figure and having proper alignment
(1), proper arrows and arrow-heads (1), nomenclature (1), different colour scheme (you can use
your own colour scheme) (1), proper visual difference between tool edges and reference lines (1).
Maintain visually attractive aspect ratio and dimensions of the figures. [Total = (5)]
4. During signal processing, a researcher found a transient fluctuating ‘Voltage’ signal with respect to
‘Time’ as tabulated in the ‘Dataset-4’. Plot these data on the XY plane in the ‘Tec360’ (1), assign
the XY axes (1), observe the graph and extract (write in your answer sheet) minimum and maximum
voltage value at the quasi-steady region (region where the constant sinusoidal type pattern is visible)
(1), roughly estimate the average voltage from these min-max values and write in answer-sheet (1),
calculate (write in your answer sheet) the time-averaged value of the voltage in this region using
‘Tec360’ inbuilt operation (1), compare both the roughly estimated average voltage and time-
averaged voltage to calculate/write the error. [Total = (5)]
5. Type the following equations in the Mathtype [Total = (5)];
