USB Memory Stick

Go to the Rockwell Collins Database Services web site - https://www.rockwellcollins.com/fms


Click on the Download Database link.

1. Login with your Database Service user name (e-mail address) and password.

2. If you need password assistance, please call 888-721-3094 (U.S. and Canada). All other

3. The database(s) eligible to download will be displayed. Double-click on the database you want
to download.

4. A dialog window will appear while the file is being prepared for download.

5. Click the Run button on the File Security window.

6. Select OK after reading the database information in the following window.

7. Place the USB memory stick into the computer; and select the letter that corresponds to your
USB removable disk drive. Ensure the folder name is unchanged, only change the drive letter.

8. Press Unzip to send the navigation database files to the USB stick.

9. The data will start unzipping.

10. Database files are now on the USB memory stick. Select OK.

11. Press Close to end the unzipping process.


12. Navigate to the USB drive folder. You should see the new folder that was created during the
unzipping process of your databases. You can now remove your USB drive and proceed to
upload your databases into your aircraft.

These steps will successfully guide you in downloading databases from the Rockwell Collins
Database Portal and loading them onto your USB stick. You are now ready to use the USB stick
to load the databases into your aircraft. If you have any questions on how to load your

DBU-5000/5010E Data Loader

Click on the Download Database link.

1. Login with your Database Service user name (e-mail address) and password.

3. The database(s) eligible to download will be displayed. Databases used with the DBU-5000
Data Loader will have a -USB extension on the name.

4. Double-click on the database you want to download.

5. A dialog window will appear while the file is being prepared for download.

6. Click the Run button on the File Download-Security Warning window.

7. Select OK after reading the database information in the following window.

8. Place the USB memory stick into the computer and select the letter (or folder path, if using
DBU-5010E) that corresponds to your USB removable disk drive. Select browse, and identify
which drive letter corresponds to your USB drive.

Non-Enhanced DBU-5000 Pro-Line 4 or Pro-Line 21 non-IFIS Equipped Aircraft
If you have a Non-Enhanced DBU-5000, the database files must be unzipped to the root directory of
the USB memory stick and only one database can be loaded at a time.

Enhanced DBU-5010E Pro-Line 21 IFIS Equipped Aircraft


If you have an Enhanced DBU-5010E, you have the capability of creating folders and loading multiple
databases onto the memory stick at one time. On page 12 of this document there are recommendations
to manage your USB memory stick folders as shown below.

9. Press Unzip to send the navigation database files to the USB stick.

10. The data will start unzipping.

11. Database files are now on the USB memory stick. Select OK.

12. Press Close to end the unzipping process

13. Navigate to the USB drive folder. You should see a list of files that were unzipped into that
folder. You can now remove your USB drive and proceed to upload the database into your
aircraft.

These steps will successfully guide you in downloading databases from the Rockwell
Collins Database Portal and loading them onto your USB stick. You are now ready to use the
USB stick to load the databases into your aircraft. If you have any questions on how to load

USB Memory Stick Management for Enhanced DBU-5010E

1. The enhanced DBU-5010E is capable of reading databases located in folders on the USB
memory stick. This allows you to have all your databases on one stick at the same time. We
recommend you set up the following directories on your USB memory stick. These are only
recommendations to help organize the databases and may be altered as necessary.

2. Begin with a blank, 1 GB (min.), USB memory stick that does not contain any pre-installed
Windows based programs, such as the U3 Launch Pad. Insert into USB drive of computer.

View Operator Bulletin #0073-08 for USB Media recommendations.

3. Open My Computer and select the USB Removable Disk drive. In this example it is (F:).

4. Now create new folders by selecting File, New and Folder.

5. Rename the folder. Right-click the folder and select “Rename”. Rename this folder to
“FMC_Nav”

6. Repeat the process of creating and renaming folders until the following folders are created.
Additional folders may be created for Performance, V-Speed, Checklists or any other database
requirements as needed.

DBU-4000/4100 Data Loader (3.5 inch Floppy Diskettes)
Notice:

DBU-4000, 4100, -4001 Production, Repair and Floppy Disk Navigation Databases Discontinuance December
2018

Rockwell Collins will be discontinuing production and support for Floppy Disk DBUs along with their associated
navigation databases effective December 2018.

For additional information, see the associated "Production and Guaranteed Repair Discontinuance Bulletin."

3. The database(s) you are eligible to download will be displayed. (Databases that end with -USB will
not allow you to create floppy discs).

4. A dialog window will appear while the file is being prepared for download followed shortly by the
“File Download-Security Warning” window. Click the Save button.

5. Click the Run button on the File Download-Security Warning window

6. Select OK after reading the database information in the following window.

7. The WinZip Self-Extractor will be displayed. Selecting Unzip will unzip the files to a temporary
directory and begin the diskette creation process.

8. WinZip will confirm the files were extracted. Select OK to start the Imaging program that will create
the diskettes.

9. A WinImage Self Extractor window will display the Navigation Database, Effective Dates, and the
number of diskettes required. Select OK.

10. You will be prompted to insert the first diskette. Insert a diskette into the drive and select OK.

11. The program will format, write and verify the content of each disk. When prompted for subsequent
diskettes, insert diskette into the drive and select OK.

When the last diskette is made, the labels for the diskettes will be displayed in Microsoft Word format.
These may be applied to the set of diskettes just created. The labels are set up to print on Avery label
number 5196.

These steps will successfully guide you in downloading databases from the Rockwell
Collins Database Portal and loading those databases onto your diskettes. You are now ready to
use these diskettes to load the databases into your aircraft. If you have any questions on how to
