BANDONG, KAIRA FLORENZIA D.

BSPSY-2B

1. Do you agree with his explanation on what constitutes plagiarism? Why or

why not?
- I disagree with his justification because he translated Kennedy's speech
into Filipino after copying it. His justifications are also inadmissible;
consider how he claimed that the speech he delivered was written by a
colleague. Had he done so, he might have learned how the colleague
created it.
2. Do you agree with former Senators Bongbong Marcos and Juan Ponce Enrile
when they defended Sen. Sotto's alleged plagiarized speech? Why or why
not?
- I disagree with former senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Bongbong Marcos
when they criticized Sen. Sotto for his allegedly plagiarized speech
because they treat the issue of plagiarism lightly and are only trying to
convince the media that plagiarism is OK. It may be true, but the structure
and ideas the author puts in a piece or work should not be forgotten and
invalidated, which is why a simple quotation can be done to address the
original author. Former senator Bongbong Marcos claims that it should not
be attributed because it belongs to English literature in general and not to
that person alone.
3. In your opinion, how do you prevent plagiarism in your written works?
- Keeping track of the sources you use as references in your work is one
step you may take to avoid plagiarism in written works. Use exact
quotation marks from the original author's words or state that there is no
other way you could possibly phrase it. Give appropriate acknowledgment
to the author and the sources while summarizing and outlining the most of
the text for the niece. And broaden your understanding of stuff by reading
books and articles.
